									                                        RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
                            Internship Position (September to December 2012)

Position Summary

The research associate, reporting to the Incubation Manager-IEC, will undertake work on updating
Innovacorp’s internal database of university based research projects in Nova Scotia. The associate will
have an opportunity to learn about technology transfer and steps that need to be taken to bridge the gap
between research labs and the marketplace. He/she will also learn how to evaluate projects with respect to
commercialization potential, and will become familiar with the work that needs to be done to establish a
successful business venture.

In addition, the incumbent will participate in the activities of the incubation and investment teams at
Innovacorp, including managing an ongoing client pipeline, due diligence and assessment of
commercialization potential of university based discoveries.

The associate will work independently, with regular meetings with their supervisor to review progress and
discuss potential issues. He or she will use various web-based databases to extract relevant information
and update the internal database for future use.

Job Specifications

Education & Experience
Ideally a combination of science and business background and some knowledge regarding technology

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge
Requires strong computer proficiency (internet, MS Word, MS Excel) and excellent communications skills.

$19.25/hours + 4% vacation pay; 35 hour work week
