									Dear ______________________,

Hello. My name is Lisa Ellison-Cherny, and I am writing in regards to the
_________________ job opportunity I saw posted on
_______________. I recently graduated magna
cum laude from the University
of Florida with a telecommunication degree, and I would love the
opportunity to contribute to the success of ______________.

I believe I would be an asset to ______________. I am very detail-oriented and
I love writing. I've gained myriad journalistic and nonjournalistic
writing experience while at the University of Florida. I've written
news stories, commercials, PSAs, promos, documentary treatments,
magazine and newspaper articles, and movie scripts. In my Interactive
Media class, I maintained a journalistic blog in which I posted
articles weekly, and also wrote an
in-depth online story about the media's past and present roles in
elections. In my Electronic Field Production class, I wrote,
produced, and acted in a short film about
my family's experience in the Holocaust. In my Sports Production
class (which is taught by the staff at Gatorzone, UF's sports
station), I have been talent, production crew, editor, and producer
for a weekly sports show called "Gator Tales."

Managing and playing tuba in my brass quintet for two years, as well
as co-producing "The U" for Big Picture Media, Inc. (a production
company affiliated with the WB), have given
me valuable leadership experience. I am a theatre minor, so I am
definitely not camera-shy or afraid of public speaking. I am fluent
in English and am proficient in Spanish and Hebrew. I am
knowledgeable about basic HTML and am proficient at MS Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Final Cut Pro. I am a fast learner and would be able
to adjust
quickly to using any computer programs with which I am not familiar.
I am diligent,
meticulous, and goal-oriented, but I am also easy-going and can handle
stressful situations in a calm and collected way. I accept criticism
well and work earnestly to make suggested improvements.

I have interned at WXEL-TV for the past two summers, and I worked for
a year at WUFT-FM (the NPR affiliate in north central Florida), so I
am used to working in a high-stress
live-on-air situation. As a result, I am practiced in adapting
quickly and decisively in unexpected situations.

I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about a
job or internship opportunity, either in your department or in a
different department. I've attached my resume to this email. If you
would like a copy of my resume tape, I would be happy provide it for
you. Also, feel free to peruse the blog I wrote for my Interactive
Media Class.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Dear Mr. Colee,

Hello, my name is Lisa Ellison-Cherny. I'm writing because I recently
signed up for an interview next month with WPEC through the University
of Florida Telecommunication Department's job fair. I just wanted to
introduce myself and let you know how excited I am about the
opportunity of possibly joining your news team. Currently, my
interview is scheduled for Thursday, March 24th, at 4:30 P.M.
However, I will be back home in south Florida this coming week
(Monday, February 28th through Friday, March 4th) for spring break; I
am hoping you will have time in your schedule to allow me to interview
while I'm in the area.

I am currently in my last semester at the University of Florida as a
telecommunication major / theatre minor, and am scheduled to graduate
Magna cum Laude at the end of April.

I believe I would be an asset to WPEC. I am very detail-oriented and
I love writing. I've gained myriad journalistic and nonjournalistic
writing experience while at the University of Florida. I've written

Managing and playing tuba in my brass quintet for two years has given
me valuable leadership experience. I am a theatre minor, so I am
definitely not camera-shy or afraid of public speaking. I am fluent
in English and am proficient in Spanish and Hebrew. I am knowledgable
about basic HTML and am proficient at MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and
Final Cut Pro. I am a fast learner and would be able to adjust
quickly to using any
computer programs with which I am not familiar. I am dilligent,
meticulous, and goal-oriented, but I am also easy-going and handle
stressful situations in a calm and collected way. I accept criticism
well and work earnestly to make suggested improvements.

work at WUFT-FM (the NPR affiliate in north central Florida), so I am
used to working in a high-stress
live-on-air situation. As a result, I am practiced in adapting
quickly and decisively in unexpected situations.

Again, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you this
coming week. I've attached my resume to this email. Also, feel free
to peruse the blog I am writing for my Interactive Media class. The

I believe I would be an asset to______________. I am a compassionate person and enjoy
giving back to my community. I volunteered for four years at the Delray Beach
Playhouse helping to teach a children's acting workshop. I also worked for five years at
the Eli Goldston Youth Library at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton, where in addition to
the usual clerical duties, I read books to children and put together and acted in book
dramatizations for children.
