History Of The Andrysiak Family Otis, IN 1857-1867 John Andrysiak arrives in America. Settles in Otis, Indiana (date not known). Born in Poland between 1833-1836. Not know if wife Magdelina arrived with him. Siblings include William, Anna, and Stanley. 1870 William (Valentine) with wife Rosa and daughter Anna, along with Lawrence (relationship not clear) and wife Francis and daughter Antonia arrive in Porter County area. 1873 Anna Andrysiak Jasicki (sister of William) supposedly arrives in Otis from Poland—pregnant after husband Stanislaus has died. On November 3, 1873, her son Stanislaus is born in Otis, Indiana. 1874 On September 2, 1874, William and Rosa Andrysiak’s daughter Rosalina is born. She is baptized on September 4, 1874 with Lawrence Andrysiak as one of the sponsors. Note: There are not later records of this daughter. It is likely she died before 1880. 1876 William and Rosa buy farm 2 miles outside of Chesterton, Indiana. 1877 On January 8, 1877, Stanley Andrysiak is married to Pelagia Kurdelski in New Salem, Michigan. Stanley was born in Poland in 1835. Arrival in America is unknown. One February 4, 1877, Anna Andrysiak is married to Albert (Adalbert) George Hyska at St. Mary’s Church in Otis, Indiana. This is the second marriage for both. On September 4, 1877, Frank Hyska, son of Anna and Albert, is baptized at St. Mary’s Church in Otis. 1890 Census doesn’t show William and Rosa, which means that they had no children under 10 (census counts only those families with younger children). Census shows Lawrence and Francis living on a farm in Jackson Township, Porter County Indiana with daughters Antonia (10) and Snelia? (Polly) (5 months), and sons John (8), Nick (6), and Aron (4). Census shows Anna Andrysiak Jasicki Hyska with George Hyska (Albert) in Otis, Indiana. Their children are listed as Victoria (14), Anne (14), Joseph (7), Charles (6), Frank (2), Theodore (1). Victoria, Anne, Joseph, and Charles were born before Anna and George were married. Joseph could be Stanislaus but the other children are not known. Nothing is known about George Hyska before Anna married him. 1881 On April 7, George Andrysiak is born to William and Rosa. 1884 William and Rosa’s daughter, Anna, is married to John Arnt at St. Patrick’s Church in Chesterton, Indiana. 1886 Jennie Andrysiak is born to William and Rosa. 1889 Anna Andrysiak Jasicki Hyska’s son, Stanislaus Jasicki is married to Katherine Kolobuchowski on November 20th. 1893 George (Albert) Hyska dies. No record so far other than Anna’s obituary that gives this information. 1900 Census has William and Rosa listed as “Andershock” in Westchester Township, Porter County Indiana. They are reported to have one son, George (20) and one daughter, Jennie (14). Census shows Lawrence and Francis listed as “Andrisalk” in New Durham Township, La Porte Country Indiana. They are reported to have a son Frank (12), and a daughter Polly (10). Other children from the 1880 census must have left home. Census stated that 7 children were living. *Frank Hyska is not listed in the census (He took over the property when George Hyska died, so he should have been in this census). Need to check for Anna Hyska. 1902 On September 16th, Frank Hyska married Michealine Janowski. 1903 On August 11, 1903, Anna Andershock (Andrysiak) Arnt (William’s daughter) dies. Theodore Hyska dies. Last will and testament of Theodore Hyska date August 13, 1903 deeded to his mother Anna Hyska his inheritance owed to him from Frank F. Hyska $450 and $100 owed to him from Steve Jasicki. This will was witnessed by John Andrysiak and Magalena Andrysiak. 1904 On April 8th, John Andrysiak appeared before the clerk of the Circuit Court of LaPorte County and testified that the will was that of the late Theodore Hyska. On April 27th, Anna Andrysiak Jascki Hyska died at her home is Westfield Township, Porter County. 1907 In June, Magdelina (wife of John Andrysiak) dies and is buried at St. Mary’s church in Otis. William’s son George Andrysiak, is married to Emma Borkosski on September 24th at St. Patrick’s church in Chesterton, Indiana. Marriage license lists George “Andershock”, but Chesterton Tribune lists George as “Andrysiak”. George and Emma had 8 children: Edward (born 9/30/1908), Rose (born 3/11/1910), Casimir/Norbert (born 5/24/1912), Theresa (born 7/12/1914), James (born 3/15/1916), George (born 1/22/1918), Alvin/Spud (born 2/3/1920), and Alice (born 10/23/1922). 1917 On July 24th, William Andrysiak dies and is buried at St. Patrick’s Church. He was 74 years old. He was killed by a hay mower. On June 18th, John Andrysiak dies and is buried in St. Mary’s Church in Otis, Indiana. 1923 Francis, wife of Lawrence, dies and is buried at St. Mary’s Church in Otis, Indiana. 1924 Stanley Andrysiak dies in Hillard, Michigan and is buried at St. Stanislaus Church in Hillard. 1926 On July 17th, William’s wife Rosa dies and is buried at St. Patrick’s Church in Chesterton, Indiana. 1934 Lawrence Andrysiak dies and is buried at St. Mary’s Church in Otis, Indiana.
