ASHEVILLE TO HOST CONSERVATION CONFERENCE
RALEIGH – Environmental leaders and U.S. Rep. Charles Taylor will gather in Asheville starting
Sunday for a three-day workshop aimed at improving conservation efforts in the southeast.
More than 350 conservation leaders are expected to attend the Southeast National Association of
Conservation Districts annual meeting at the historic Grove Park Inn. The meeting starts at noon on
Sunday and concludes at TIMEXX Tuesday.
Speakers plan to discuss private land stewardship, community conservation, the development of the
2007 Farm Bill and other conservation topics. Taylor will discuss current forestry issues at 9:30 a.m. on
Monday. Bill Holman, Clean Water Management Trust Fund’s executive director and National
Association of Conservation Districts President Billy Wilson will speak later that day.
