LIFE After School Program
Positions in Lemoore and Avenal
$ 9.50 per hour
POSITION: BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the After School Coordinator, and Site After School Program
Activity Leader, develop and implement student activities for Reef Sunset After
School Program including supervising daily activities, train middle and high school
student tutors; maintain a variety of attendance and performance records for audit
and compliance purposes; provide direct instructional assistance to students.
Completion of appropriate forms to obtain state funding according to
established policies and procedures.
Prepare monthly progress reports on elementary students regarding tutoring
session and social development as appropriate.
Compile variety of reports regarding tutorial services. Students tutored and
other special reports.
Travel to various locations within the Reef Sunset District to conduct work as

parents and teachers to facilitate and promote tutorial services, resolve issues
and exchange information.
Maintain attendance records for ADA, compliance reports, audits and District
evaluation; and issue monthly updates.
Implement retention strategies to return students to program as directed.
Maintain an effective, pleasant and caring learning environment for students in
the tutoring learning environment; maintain a disciplined and productive
Utilize and maintain a collection of tutor support materials, assist in developing
and delivery instructional lesson plans and workshops.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
ABOUT THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Techniques and methods used in tutoring.
Principles and practices of training and providing work direction.
Operation of computer terminal and data entry techniques.
Applicable laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
Oral and written communication skills.
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Modern office procedures and equipment.
Work effectively with the Program Coordinator, Site After School Activity Leader,
subordinate staff, and youth ages 5-13, parents and teachers.
Promote tutorial services among parents, students and teachers.
Provide direct instructional assistance to students.
Direct recreational activities for youth.
Operate computer terminal and related software applications.
Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
Plan and organize work.
Work independently with little direction.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Indoor & outdoor work environment.
Considerable distraction from office activities.
ABOUT THE Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard.
POSITION: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Bending at the waist to assist students.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information.

QUALIFICATIONS: day of the filing period.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of equivalent to: High school diploma or equivalent, 30 units of
college-level course work in general education or related field and one year
experience in a classroom, youth, community service, volunteer services. Three or
more years experience as an Instructional Aide can be substituted for up to 15
units of college level course work. CBEST certification can be substituted for
up to 15 units of college level course work.
Must a have CPR/First Aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
Must be concurrently enrolled in a minimum of 6 college units if AS degree is not
