                AIR FORCE DEPLOYMENT TRANSITION CENTER (DTC)



PURPOSE

Inform commanders and redeployers on the DTC mission.

BACKGROUND

- CSAF stood up Airman Resiliency Program Working Group (ARPWG) in Dec 09 to address
increasing trend of negative resilience indicators across the force

- CSAF directed DTC stand-up during Corona South, Feb 10 as post-deployment piece of larger
Airmen Resiliency Program

- DTC stood up, under COMUSAFE direction, at Ramstein AB with 1 Jul 10 IOC date

DISCUSSION

- DTC is a continuing, world-class organization, en route to redeployers’ home station that
provides maximum opportunities for post-deployment decompression and useful reintegration
education in support of redeploying Airmen

- DTC executes 2-day small group, discussion oriented decompression/reintegration curriculum

  -- Curriculum topic areas consists of: operational lessons learned, telling your story,
  Battlemind (being reworked to be Airman centric) and an experiential off-base outing

  -- Executed by career field (AFSC specific), Mental Health and Chaplain Corps facilitators

  -- Program objectives: rest, reflect, recreate, reintegrate, recapture, and resources

- HAF functional area managers/ARPWG identify mission sets for DTC attendance

  -- DTC currently supports Security Forces, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Convoy Ops, Red
  Horse and Medical “outside the wire” (OTW) mission sets

- DTC is prepared to support an estimated 2,200 Airmen annually; 200 maximum per class

SUMMARY

CSAF stood up the DTC at Ramstein AB to help facilitate successful family and unit
reintegration for OTW, combat experienced Airmen.
