                                            POLICE OFFICER
                                                   $36,968 to $47,899
THE POSITION
This is professional and community oriented work in the prevention of crime and enforcement of local, state,
and federal laws. Duties involve protection of life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances,
performance of routine patrol duties, investigation of crimes and accidents, and traffic enforcement within
established departmental guidelines. Duties involve constant public contact in the performance of work while
tolerating stressful situations. Must provide quality service to the public without losing sight of what laws have
to be enforced.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a certified Police Officer and be able to submit proof of current Police Officer status.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.
- Height must be in proportion to weight as determined by a physical examination.
- Uncorrected vision correctable to 20/20 vision in each eye by soft contact lenses, gas permeable lenses
  and/or extended wear lenses. No greater than 20/40 vision in each eye correctable to 20/20 with glasses.
- Must not be colorblind.
- Must have no prior felony convictions (includes expunged convictions).
- Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be in good physical and mental health, free from any impediment of the senses, and in possession of
  all extremities.
- Must meet hearing standard as established by MCOLES.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
Qualified applicants will be invited to a Written Exam. Applicants scoring 70% or better on the exam will
advance to an Oral Interview. Successful candidates will be placed on a Civil Service Eligible List in effect for
two years or until the list is exhausted. Must satisfactorily complete the following to continue in the process:
background investigation; physical exam; psychological exam; state certified drug screening.
