 4   A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNNWOOD,
 5    WASHINGTON, RECOGNIZING THE EXCELLENT CONTRIBUTION OF
 6        JUDGE STEPHEN MOORE TO THE CITY OF LYNNWOOD.
 7

 9          WHEREAS Judge Moore has been the Presiding Judge of the Lynnwood Municipal
10   Court since January 1, 2001, and
11
12          WHEREAS Judge Moore oversees one of the busiest courts in Washington with a
13   caseload of 20,000 cases a year, and
14
15          WHEREAS Judge Moore has been fair and consistent, yet believes in holding people
16   accountable, and
17
18          WHEREAS Judge Moore established a probation department as his first priority when
19   appointed Judge of Lynnwood Municipal Court, and
20
21          WHEREAS Judge Moore has the respect of both the Prosecuting Attorney and the
22   Public Defender; and
23
24         WHEREAS Judge Moore has displayed an appropriate sense of humor bringing laughter
25   and compassion each day to the court, and
26
27          WHEREAS Judge Moore teaches a full day on ethics every year at the Washington State
28   Judges Conference, and
29
30          WHEREAS Judge Moore writes the Justiciar’s Gazette to update and educate pro tem
31   judges regarding changes in Lynnwood Municipal Court procedures and policies, and
32
33          WHEREAS Judge Moore was honored by the Washington State Board for Court
34   Education for his contribution to judicial education to the District and Municipal Court Judges
35   Association, and
36
37           WHEREAS Judge Moore has taught law and literature classes for the National Center
38   for State Courts in Virginia, the National Conference of Chief Justices and the Idaho Judicial
39   Conference, and
40
41         WHEREAS Judge Moore makes a positive difference in many people’s lives through his
42   work on the bench, and
43
44           WHEREAS, through his untiring efforts, Judge Moore has been responsive to the needs
45   of the police department and the jail;

48     NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNNWOOD, HEREBY
49   RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

 2      We express and confirm our deep appreciation to Judge Moore for his years of dedicated,
 3   excellent service and for the exceptional help he has given to the City of Lynnwood, our staff
 4   and our elected officials over the past eight years.
