Core Strategy Dacorum B.C. have confirmed that over 200 representations on the Pre-Submission Core Strategy documents were received with many raising issues specifically about Berkhamsted. This included the submission from SYBRA. With the number so high it will take Dacorum B.C. until the end of February to check and analyse each submission. Dacorum have confirmed that some changes to the Core Strategy are likely as a result of comments received. This includes the strategy for Berkhamsted. However, none of the changes are deemed significant enough for them to change the thrust of the Core Strategy. They want to resist major changes because it will delay the implementation of the Core Strategy significantly and this they do not want to happen. Dacorum admit they omitted boundary changes on the Proposals Map and following legal advice they have had to undertake a 6 weeks consultation from 15 February 2012. None of the boundary changes affects Berkhamsted. The Core Strategy will be submitted to a government appointed planning inspector at the end of April/early May 2012. It is likely that the Examination held by the Inspector will commence during September 2012. SYBRA have requested to be present at the Examinations and to make representations directly to the Inspector in line with our submissions. Berkhamsted Town Council - BTC BTC have formally objected to the proposals for Berkhamsted in the Core Strategy, stating that they do not support the building of 1180 homes in Berkhamsted. They propose the smaller number of 750. Berkhamsted Citizens Association – BCA BCA also objected to the proposed number (180) of homes for the Egerton-Rothesay site on the basis that the infrastructure is inadequate and that the original number of 100 homes would be more appropriate. Berkhamsted residents Action Group – BRAG BRAG is a group that has been set up primarily to oppose the proposals from Grand Union Investments (GUI) for 800 homes at the top of Swing Gate Lane. This proposal is known as the South Berkhamsted Concept. It is not in the Core Strategy but will be considered by the Government Inspector separately. SYBRA strongly supports BRAG and is working closely with them. We will, of course, keep you updated at regular intervals.
