At Cigna, we are committed to providing our customers with employee benefits, expertise and services that
improve the health, well-being and productivity of their employees. Cigna's people are the key to our
success in a changing and increasingly competitive marketplace. The collective skills, behaviors and work
experiences of all Cigna employees enable us to make a real difference in the lives of the individuals we
serve. We seek the most talented and creative minds to develop innovative solutions our customers value
and individuals expect.

Cigna offers a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package including health and
wellness benefits, 401k plan, and work/life balance programs, as well as opportunities for career growth and
development.

Our Team
Cigna is dramatically expanding its deployment of analytics across the business as we fulfill our mission to
help the people we serve improve their health and well-being. Cigna Analytics serves the analytic needs of
the US business lines including individual/retail and employer segments, medical, network, disability, dental,
service operations, and pharmacy. The organization supports the business by applying the following
techniques to answer these key business questions:

 Advanced trend analytics to answer “what happened?”
 Root cause statistical analyses to answer “why did this happen?”
 Predictive modeling to answer “what will happen next?”
 Data mining and pattern analysis to answer “where are the opportunities?”
 Innovation processes and pilot campaigns to answer “how can we get better?”
By partnering with the business lines, these analytic competencies enable efficient and effective decision
making to allow us to constantly improve. The department also has overall accountability for the methods
and standards used to create market-leading proof-of-value statements for all of Cigna's health services. As
such, we set the standards for the methods that apply externally in reporting the value of Cigna's services to
its customers and ensure these align internally with operational management reporting and finance.

Our Role
This role is a member of the Analytics Department’s leadership team and an integral part of the Pharmacy
business senior leadership team. The person in this job will be expected to have the requisite content
knowledge and leadership skills related to leading teams who evaluate pharmacy-related outcomes in the
healthcare and/or retail arenas and experience in client reporting, pricing exercises, responding to RFIs/RFPs,
in addition to supporting analytics for the account management, marketing and sales functions.

This role will work closely with leadership to help the pharmacy organization understand what is working and
what is not working. The level of analysis will be at a program-level, but also at a level to understand which
components of programs work as designed. This position will also interface with select employer prospects
and pharmacy practice consultants to shape their program evaluation requirements and support
infrastructure development.
We are looking for an experienced leader (pharmaceutical researchers or consultants,
pharmacoepidemiologists, econometricians, biostatisticians, pharmacists, etc) with deep
pharmacy/pharmacy benefit management (PBM) subject matter expertise. The need is for a qualified
leader who can partner deeply with the pharmacy business – and all stakeholders – using a highly
consultative and collaborative approach to lead their teams in identifying program improvement
opportunities, proposing and testing better evaluation methods, providing business requirements for
production, designing pilot studies, understanding relationships between program design and outcomes
and identifying issues with underlying data. This also includes overseeing a team responsible for client level
reporting, projection of pharmacy program impact (GDR, step therapy, etc), driving reporting improvement
opportunities and partnering with the enterprise client reporting organization.

A Day In The Life Of A Pharmacy Analytics Director May Include:
 Partner with the pharmacy businesses and use analytic expertise to address the opportunities and
       solve problems
 Lead pharmacy-specific program evaluation and program outcomes analyses
 Influence the methodology used by purchasers and consultants for the fair and equitable evaluation
       of pharmacy programs
 Lead pharmacy client level reporting, projection of pharmacy program impact (GDR, Step therapy,
etc.), driving reporting improvement opportunities and partnering with the enterprise client reporting
       organization
 Develop and partner to expose external metrics and statements regarding the pharmacy value
       chain
 Support public relations activities and demonstrate industry thought leadership by speaking at
industry conferences and leading teams to produce publications and poster presentations
 Collaborate on the development and evaluation of pharmaceutical outcome based contracts.
 Prioritize and coordinate multiple work efforts
 Align and consolidate as necessary disparate analytics initiatives
 Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports
 Attract and retain high caliber talent
 Collaborate and support the Pharmacy Finance and Product teams to establish appropriate
performance guarantees related to service levels, health services engagement, and health
       outcomes
 Support the Pharmacy Operations team to provide effective management reporting that links to
       market statements and outcomes
 Support the team responsible for the member identification and categorization process, including
the development and implementation of new methodologies, metrics, and tools

Ideal Candidates Will Offer:
 Advanced degree or equivalent and at least 7-10 years experience in related pharmacy,
       healthcare and/or pharmacy retail analytics
 Leadership competencies with the ability to collaborate with others and establish working
relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act
       strategically, and influence key leaders
 Be self-motivated and possess strong leadership qualities to influence, drive, and improve the areas
       above
 Translate business needs into practical applications and solutions

 Experience in managing the design, development, and continuous improvement of complex
healthcare data systems, tools, and reports is a plus
 Ability to successfully navigate and contribute in a highly-matrixed environment
 Strong customer focus and management of client expectations
 Emerging track record of presentations / publications and thought leadership is a plus
