Cigna Analytics serves the analytic needs of the US business lines including individual/retail and employer segments, medical, network, disability, dental, service operations, and pharmacy. The organization supports the business by applying the following techniques to answer these key business questions: Advanced trend analytics to answer “what happened?” Root cause statistical analyses to answer “why did this happen?” Predictive modeling to answer “what will happen next?” Data mining and pattern analysis to answer “where are the opportunities?” Innovation processes and pilot campaigns to answer “how can we get better?” By partnering with the business lines, these analytic competencies enable efficient and effective decision making to allow us to constantly improve. The department also has overall accountability for the methods and standards used to create market-leading proof-of-value statements for all of Cigna's health services. As such, we set the standards for the methods that apply externally in reporting the value of Cigna's services to its customers and ensure these align internally with operational management reporting and finance. Our Role This role is a member of the Analytics Department’s leadership team and an integral part of the Pharmacy business senior leadership team. The person in this job will be expected to have the requisite content knowledge and leadership skills related to leading teams who evaluate pharmacy-related outcomes in the healthcare and/or retail arenas and experience in client reporting, pricing exercises, responding to RFIs/RFPs, in addition to supporting analytics for the account management, marketing and sales functions. This role will work closely with leadership to help the pharmacy organization understand what is working and what is not working. The level of analysis will be at a program-level, but also at a level to understand which components of programs work as designed. This position will also interface with select employer prospects and pharmacy practice consultants to shape their program evaluation requirements and support infrastructure development. We are looking for an experienced leader (pharmaceutical researchers or consultants, pharmacoepidemiologists, econometricians, biostatisticians, pharmacists, etc) with deep pharmacy/pharmacy benefit management (PBM) subject matter expertise. The need is for a qualified leader who can partner deeply with the pharmacy business – and all stakeholders – using a highly consultative and collaborative approach to lead their teams in identifying program improvement opportunities, proposing and testing better evaluation methods, providing business requirements for production, designing pilot studies, understanding relationships between program design and outcomes and identifying issues with underlying data. This also includes overseeing a team responsible for client level reporting, projection of pharmacy program impact (GDR, step therapy, etc), driving reporting improvement opportunities and partnering with the enterprise client reporting organization. A Day In The Life Of A Pharmacy Analytics Director May Include: Partner with the pharmacy businesses and use analytic expertise to address the opportunities and solve problems Lead pharmacy-specific program evaluation and program outcomes analyses Influence the methodology used by purchasers and consultants for the fair and equitable evaluation of pharmacy programs Lead pharmacy client level reporting, projection of pharmacy program impact (GDR, Step therapy, etc.), driving reporting improvement opportunities and partnering with the enterprise client reporting organization Develop and partner to expose external metrics and statements regarding the pharmacy value chain Support public relations activities and demonstrate industry thought leadership by speaking at industry conferences and leading teams to produce publications and poster presentations Collaborate on the development and evaluation of pharmaceutical outcome based contracts. Prioritize and coordinate multiple work efforts Align and consolidate as necessary disparate analytics initiatives Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports Attract and retain high caliber talent Collaborate and support the Pharmacy Finance and Product teams to establish appropriate performance guarantees related to service levels, health services engagement, and health outcomes Support the Pharmacy Operations team to provide effective management reporting that links to market statements and outcomes Support the team responsible for the member identification and categorization process, including the development and implementation of new methodologies, metrics, and tools Ideal Candidates Will Offer: Advanced degree or equivalent and at least 7-10 years experience in related pharmacy, healthcare and/or pharmacy retail analytics Leadership competencies with the ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders Be self-motivated and possess strong leadership qualities to influence, drive, and improve the areas above Translate business needs into practical applications and solutions Consumer, web, healthcare data (e.g., groupers, profiling), statistical analysis experience, and demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes Working knowledge of program evaluation, pay for performance, predictive modeling, data mining, steerage, retail, call center, pharmacy and care management best practices Experience in managing the design, development, and continuous improvement of complex healthcare data systems, tools, and reports is a plus Ability to successfully navigate and contribute in a highly-matrixed environment Strong customer focus and management of client expectations Emerging track record of presentations / publications and thought leadership is a plus Location: Hartford/Bloomfield, CT How to Apply: Please forward your résumé to firstname.lastname@example.org CIGNA is an equal opportunity employer and committed to a diverse workforce.
