Haddenham Parish Council Website News update @ 24 September 2009 Haddenham wins Best Kept Village Award Haddenham was again successful in the Best Kept Village competition, this year winning the Pushman Cup for the second time in three years. The award was presented to Cllr Margaret Aston, Chairman of Haddenham Parish Council at Church End on Saturday 12 September. The judges’ comments make pleasing reading: 1. Parish church surrounds in good order. Graveyard well maintained. 2. Church End common green surround litter free and well maintained. Tidy and well managed play area secure by spring gate. Good tennis courts which can be illuminated. Pavilion has good surroundings. 3. Good Community Centre area with much activity in evidence. Surrounding area tidy and well managed. 4. Snakemoor Local Nature Reserve. Good managed area with a clear natural pond. Comprehensive waterproof local information plate in situ. 5. Banks parade shops surroundings clean and tidy. All public houses within Church End very presentable. Butcher’s shop surround tidy and litter free. 6. Bus shelter clean and good. Notice boards at Community Centre up to date and newsworthy re Council affairs. 7. Village sign at Church End in good order. War memorial, good and well maintained, clean and planted. Church End pond clean and well managed surrounds and a good community area. 8. Haddenham continues to be a most attractive village with excellent facilities. This is an award that the whole village can be rightly proud of and the result of a lot of hard work of a large number of people, many of whom often go unheralded but their contributions are more than welcome nevertheless.
