The purpose of the new members’ handbook will be to enlighten
new members of what we at Wings of Faith Christian Worship
Center believe. We believe that it is vitally important that one
gets to know their church, its mission, beliefs and its doctrines.
Jesus sent his disciples out equipped not only with power and
authority but with knowledge as it pertained to the word God.
We believe that we also must be equipped with knowledge of the
word and of our teachings and doctrines. Ministry cannot be
effective if we are unable to explain what or whom it is that we
The Mission states that we will receive, rescue, revive,
restore, and rebuild, every individual that is created in the
image and likeness of God. As a church we will receive the
individual in whatsoever state they may be in, and began to
rescue them from the pits of degradation through teaching,
preaching, and living the word of God. Through the acceptance
of Christ, the spiritual man will be revived; by grace and mercy,
integrity restored, and through spiritual transformation God
begins to rebuild His image and likeness within the man.

We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the
Holy Spirit. We believe God the Son was conceived by the
Virgin Mary, suffered as a human, was crucified by
mankind, was buried, and resurrected on the third day. We
believe God the Son now resides with God the Father
making intercessions for mankind. We believe God the
Holy Spirit indwells all children of God, we believe in the
forgiveness of our sins through the shed of the blood of
Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the body. Communion of
the saints and life forever.

Now we will look at the 5 R’s within the mission:
Receive- to receive means (to get something, learn information,
meet with something, acquire, and react to something) what we
look to offer an individual is Jesus in the capacity of God the
Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
John. 1:12 But to as many as received him, to them gave he
power to become the sons of God, even unto them that believe on
John 14:26-27 But the comforter which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I
V27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the
world giveth, I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither
let it be afraid.
These two verses let us know that Jesus knew it would be
impossible for us to walk (ever progress) in righteousness
without the assistance of the Holy Ghost. We must understand
that without Christ it is impossible to please God, so we cannot
expect an individual to be righteous before accepting Christ,
which is why we can receive individuals in whatsoever state they
may be in. We too were once a wrench undone.
It is the Comforter that assists and teaches us how to live
righteous, and corrects us when we don’t. It is the word that
ministers growth and development when we began to meditate on
it day and night.
Without the Peace (tranquility) of God meditation is impossible
when the cares of this life have engulfed us. Our Mind must be
free of worry of anything that would serve to impede or hinder
our thought process. Peace is divinely bestowed upon us.
Philippians 4:7-8 says: And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ
V8) finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are good report; if there be any virtue, and if there e
any praise think on these things.
It is the peace of God that guards our mind from the
thoughts that once entangled us.
Acts 1:8 Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is
come upon you and you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth.
Upon initial salvation we receive the Holy Ghost and he becomes
the keeper of our heart, soul, and mind, He walks along side and
with us (parakele). It is the Holy Ghost that gives us the power to
walk right, the power to talk right, and the power to live right.
Although, sin is yet present it has no power in our life.
Roman 3:23 For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God
is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Salvation costs you nothing it is the free gift of God, you are
exchanging a life of sin that leads to eternal damnation, for
eternal life with God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy
Rescue-means to remove from danger, save, get someone out of
jail, take forcible possession of something.
John. 10:10 says the thief comes but to steal, kill, and to destroy:
I am come that you might have life, and that you might have life
Jesus came to rescue us from the grips of death, which seeks to
steal our joy, kill us spiritually, and destroy any relationship that
we may attempt to have with Christ.
John. 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only
begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish
but have everlasting life.
God knew that man had no way to make atonement (amends) for
his sin, so he sent his son Jesus to die in our stead.
Romans 5:8 says that” God commended his love towards us in
that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”
This means that his death was substitutional and sacrificial for
you and me; he died that we might have life and have it more
abundantly. What great love that is!!
Revive- to bring back to life or consciousness or into use, to
restore, to cause an experience to return.
Sin is a destroyer of man, it slowly takes the life out of us and
depending on how deep in sin we are the process may not take
long. Depression, drug addiction, alcohol, gambling, and the list
goes on and on, these are things that Satan will use to destroy us,
but thanks be to God for the shed blood of Jesus. In John 10:10
Jesus says “I am come that ye might have life and that you
might have life more abundantly” this entails a life filled with
love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, and temperance. These are the fruit of the Spirit
(Gal.5:22) which serve to revive us along with the word of God,
good sound doctrine (teaching) and faithfully attending Sunday
school, bible study, and church. They give us a conscious that
allows us to make good choices and convicts us when we don’t,
assist us in our battle against the flesh.
Restore-give something back, return something to its previous
condition, energize somebody, put something back
Christ wants to restore us to a right relationship with God the
Father that was lost when sin entered the world. Without
accepting Christ and believing in his shed blood that cleanses us
from all unrighteousness, and his resurrection from the dead we
cannot obtain that relationship with God the Father.
Matt. 6:33 says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his
righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Heb. 11:6 says “He that cometh to God must believe that he is
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Rebuild-means to build again because of damage or destruction,
to work to restore something that has been weakened, to make
major changes to something, to make major alterations or
Christ wants to rebuild our relationship with the father through
our acceptance of him. Without Christ in our life we will not
manifest the image and likeness of the father, his characteristics
will be unidentifiable in our life.
II Corinthians 5:17 says” If any man be in Christ he is a new
creature old things are passed away and behold all things are
become new.” Once we accept Christ we are no longer the
same, our spirit which had been damaged by sin is now renewed,
regenerated, revived and rebuilt.

of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the
name of the Lord. And the prayer offer in faith will make the
sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he
will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and
pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a
righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just
like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not
rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and
the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. My
brothers, if one of you should wander form the truth and someone
should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner

Ephesians 1:22-23: And God placed all things under his feet and

Ephesians.2:20-22: Built on the foundation of the apostles

Revelation 19:11-14: I saw heaven standing open and there
before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and
True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like
blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name
written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed
in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The
armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and
dressed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev. 20:1-7: And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,
having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.
He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or
Satan and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the
Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from
deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were
ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. I saw
thrones on which were seated those who had been beheaded
because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the Word of
God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not
received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came
to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. The rest of the
dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.
This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who
have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no
power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ
and will reign with him for a thousand.
The lake of Fire- prepared for the devil and his angels
Hell was not prepared for us
Revelation 19:20: But the beast was captured, and with him the
false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his
behalf. With these signs he had received the mark of the beast
and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive
into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
Revelation 20:10-15: Then I saw a great white throne and him
who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence and
there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and
small, standing before the throne, and other books were opened,
which is the book of life. The sea gave up dead that were in it,
and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and
each person was judged according to what he had done. Then
death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of
fire is the second death. If anyone’s name was not found written
in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

The Church – Is the body of Christ, of which he is the head.
(Ephesians 1:22-23). The body of Christ is made up of all believers in
Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:16). It is a place where believers assemble
together in love, loving one another, (John 4:12). In order for the
church to function properly, all members of the body are essential.
Each member and their gift serve a purpose. All members are important
and play a significant role in the Kingdom of God. The church is
comparable to that of a hospital, a place where those who have been
hurt or wounded can come and receive care, be healed, renewed,
restored, and regenerated.
What – Attendance to the services of the church is a good work
and an indication of faithfulness to God (Titus 3:1) “Be ready
unto every good work”.
Who – Believers and followers of Christ should attend church.
Every believer should desire to serve and worship individually
and corporately. (Ephesians 5:19) Speak to one another in
psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music to the
Lord in your heart.
When – Every Christian should attend church regularly.
Attendance provides opportunity for fellowship, spiritual
edification, growth and development, ministering, and spiritual
Where –House of God – A place where believers gather together
corporately to edify, glorify and reverence the Lord in spirit and
in truth. (Psalms 122:1).” I was glad when they said unto me; Let
us go to the house of the Lord”.
Why – God is please when believers demonstrate fellowship and
unification corporately. (Hebrews 10:24-25). “Let us consider
how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds”.
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of
doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you
see the day approaching”.
Benefits in church attendance:
Fellowship – Believers assemble themselves corporately to serve,
pray, and encourage one another in the Lord. (Acts 2: 42-47).
Bible Study – Offers inductive studies where you will be taught
the word of the word of God and where you will be able to
participate and partake in the discussions by sharing your input,
thoughts and or concern. (2 Timothy 2:15).
Church School – Allows believers the opportunity to be taught
the word of God, interact with fellow believers, and share in the
word and encourage another. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Involvement/Participation – Offers believers to share in using
their gifts and talents for the edification of the body and serve as
a witness to reconcile unbelievers to Christ. (Ephesians 4: 11-12)
(1 Peter 3:15).
Spiritual Growth/Development – We acquire faith by hearing the
word of God. Knowledge of the word of God sustains and
strengthens us. Application of the word develops us and produces
spiritual growth. (II Peter 3:18)
Spiritual Worship Experience – Engaging in prayer, praise, and
worship to God are essential. God inhabits the praises of his
people. Worship refreshes, cleanses, rejuvenates, and replenishes
the believer (John 4: 23-24).
Church Absenteeism: What Suffers When You Won’t
1. Your Influence – Willful absenteeism robs the church of
your good influence. (Matthews 5:16). One of the ways
that we can let our light shine before men is to participate
and show others our interest in spiritual activities.
2. Encouraging Others – Your neglect to come to church
robs others of your encouragement. Christians draw great
strength from being together with others who share their
faith, love of truth and common goals in Christ. By
neglecting to assemble, you rob your brethren, who
already face a multitude of temptations and worldly
discouragements of the encouragement of your presence.
3. Personal Edification – You miss an opportunity to be
spiritually edified. Spiritual growth is added by active
involvement and participation of the worship services and
teaching program of a local church. When you blend in
with praise with your brethren to the great and awesome
God of the universe, by praying along with the sincere,
heartfelt, public prayers by listening carefully to the
wonderful words of life from God’s one and only book,
the Bible. We can only be built up in his most holy faith
(Jude vs. 20) by spiritual “exercise”. Coming to church
services is where we can be empowered to meet the trials
and temptations of daily life. Failure to attend consistently
robs you of spiritual strength you to live faithfully before
God during the week.
4. Opportunity to Glorify God – The person who loves god,
which is Jesus said, is the greatest commandment (Mark 12:30),
will not be ashamed of His ways, His truth, or His people. The
faithful child of God will stand with God’s people. “I am a
companion of all who fear thee and of those who keep your
precepts” (Psalms 119: 63). Attending church is a sure way to
show we are serious and happy about putting god first in our life.
(Psalms 122:1), “I was glad when they said unto me; Let u go to
the house of the Lord” .

“What is the difference between a talent and a spiritual gift?”
There are similarities and differences between talents and
spiritual gifts from God. Both grow in effectiveness with use.
Both are intended to be used on behalf of others, not for selfish
purposes. I Corinthians 12:7: states that spiritual gifts are given
to benefit others and not ourselves. As the ten great
commandments deal with loving God and others, it follows that
one should use his talents for those purposes. But to whom and
when talents and spiritual gifts are given differs. A person
(regardless of his belief in God or in Christ) is given a natural
talent as a result of a combination of genetics (some have natural
ability in music, art, or mathematics) and surroundings (growing
up in a musical family will aid one in developing a talent for
music), because God desired to endow certain individuals with
certain talents (for example, Bazeleel in Exodus 31:1-6 Then the
Lord said to Moses, See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the
son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the
Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of
crafts—to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and
bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in
all kinds of craftsmanship. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab
son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have
given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have
commanded you) Spiritual gift are given to all believers by the
Holy Spirit, Roman 12:3- 6) at the time they place their faith in
Christ for the forgiveness of their sins. At that moment, the Holy
Spirit gives to the new believer the spiritual gift(s) He desires the
believer to have (1Corinthians 12:11: All these are the work of
one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he
Roman 12:3-8 lists the spiritual gifts as follows: prophecy,
serving others (in a general sense), Teaching, exhorting,
generosity, leadership, and showing mercy. I Corinthians 12:8-
11 lists the gifts as the word of wisdom (ability to communicate,
spiritual wisdom), the word of knowledge (ability to
Communicates practical truth), faith (unusual reliance upon
God), the working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits,
tongue (ability to speak in a language that one has not studied),
and interpretation of tongues. The third list is found in Ephesians
4:10-12, which speaks of God giving to His church apostles,
prophets, evangelists, and pastor- teachers. There is also a
question as to how many spiritual gifts there are, as no two lists
are the same. It is also possible that the biblical list are not
exhaustive, that there are additional spiritual gifts beyond the
ones the bible mentions.
While one may develop his talents and later direct his profession
or hobby along those lines, spiritual gifts were given by the Holy
Spirit for the building up of Christ’s church. In that, all
Christians are to play an active part in the furtherance of the
gospel of Christ. All are called and equipped to be involved in
the “work of the ministry” (Ep.4:12). All are gifted so that they
can contribute to the cause of Christ out of gratitude for all He
has done for them. In doing so, they also fine fulfillment in life
through their labor for Christ. It is the job of the church leaders
to help build up the saints so they can be further equipped for the
ministry to which God has called them. The intended result of
spiritual gifts is that the church as a whole can grow, being
strengthened by the combined supply of each member of Christ’s
To summarize the differences between spiritual gift and talents:
1). A talent is the result of genetics and/or training, while a
spiritual gift is the result of the power of the Holy Spirit. 2). A
talent can be possessed by anyone, Christian or non-Christian,
while spiritual gifts are only possessed by Christians. 3). While
both talents and spiritual gifts should be used for God’s glory and
to minister to others, spiritual gift are focused on these, task,
while talents can be used entirely for non-spiritual purposes.

Note: What stewardship is not: By: D.R. Towns
III) What stewardship is not?
A) Stewardship is not a fund-raising campaign to get
money for church programs.
B) Stewardship is not an advertisement campaign to
motivate people to give to the church.
C) Stewardship is not getting money from people.
D) Stewardship is not getting money for the church.
E) A stewardship campaign teaches people how to
manage all of their money according to biblical
principles. Stewardship teaches how to spend 90
percent according to biblical principles. Obviously, a
stewardship program assumes people will give ten
percent to God. When people give ten percent to God,
then manage the rest of their ninety percent according
to biblical principles; they will prosper. Therefore,
stewardship education first aims at the prosperity of
church members when they follow biblical principles.
In a second place, a stewardship educational program
will prosper the church because everyone will give ten
percent to God.
II Corinthians 8: 7-11: But just as you excel in everything -–in
faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love
for us –see that you also excel in this grace of giving. I am not
commanding you, of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of
others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though
he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, so that you through his
poverty become rich. And here is my advice about what is best for you
in this matter: Last year you were the first not only to give but also to
have the desire to do so. Now finish the work, so that your eager
willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it,
according to your means.

Includes those men of the congregation called to provide
“Service” both practical and spiritual to the congregation
under the direction of God and the Pastor. They must
spiritually qualify according to Acts 6:1-4 and be filed with
the “Holy Ghost.” They should also qualify on the practical
side according to I Tim. 3:8-13 which says Likewise
deacons must be grave, not double-tongued, not given to
much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; holding the mystery of
faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be
proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being
found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not
slanders, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the
husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own
houses well, for they that have used the office of a deacon
well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great
boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
WOMEN IN ACTION MINISTRY
Pauline Auyaau, Chairperson
Better known as Women in Action, this group meets every
2nd Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the Boys and
Girls Club Center in Sebring. This is a time in which the
women discuss future events and community outreach
services. WIA believe that Christian women can grow best
through fellowship with one another and when reaching out
to others within the community. WIA renders services in
nursing homes, hospitals, and to the sick and shut in, and
also conducts street services. Every 5th Sunday WIA are
in charge of the morning service, this also is a time of
excitement, when spirit filled, anointed and appointed
women sing, dance, and preach the word of God.
Wanda Tookes, Chairperson
Ministry insures that every visitor to our services and
activities feel welcome by providing a warm
acknowledgement of their presence. The associate(s)
makes sure that visitors receive a Wings of Faith Welcome
package, program bulletin, and visitor’s information form. It
is imperative that each associate assigned to serve
monitors the visitors throughout the entire service or
activity and respond to their needs.
Each associate of this ministry will receive a monthly
calendar that will reflect the service(s) and activities they
are assigned to serve. If the associate is unavailable for
the assigned date and time, an effort must be made to
contact the Hospitality leader who will assign a
replacement. The front entry doors must be covered every
service; including afternoon services sponsored by the
Wings of Faith Christian Worship Center.

Ministry assists in greeting members and guest upon their
arrival to church services and make sure that everyone
who arrives for worship receives a bulletin, has a giving
envelope and are seated properly. We are also
responsible for making sure that everyone respects the
sanctity of the worship service by not walking or entering
the sanctuary during inappropriate times. We also assist
with persons who appear to be uncomfortable during
services (i.e. providing fans, adjusting the temperature,
assisting parents with crying children, picking up trash in
the sanctuary after services, etc.).
UNDAY SCHOOL & BIBLE STUDY MINISTRY
Brenda Smith, Superintendant
Ministry influences attendance of membership and visitors
to attend Sunday School training and Wednesday Adult
and Youth Bible study sessions at 7:00 p.m. This is a time
of intense teaching and a time of spiritual fellowship. We
believe that in order for any Christian to grow in knowledge
and strength, there must be a constant consistent intake of
the Word of God.
