                 Job Purpose

                 To maintain the signalling infrastructure to ensure that it meets the
                 requirements of the operational railway in a safe, reliable, efficient and cost
                 effective way.


                 Main Duties & Responsibilities

                 The following reflects typical duties and is not intended to be a comprehensive
                 description of all tasks.

                      1. To carry out maintenance and faulting. To rectify faults, test and
                           maintain signalling and telecommunications equipment to the laid down
                           maintenance specifications with due attention to quality, safety and on
                           site training of staff as required.

                      2. Carry out signalling work with other departments, ie Operations, Civil
                           Engineers to ensure minimum disruption to the operational railway by
                           completing work to planned timescales.

                      3. Ensure staff under their control are kept fully informed of any relevant
                           information about the job especially safety issues.

                      4. Carry out inspections of maintenance standards and sign off relevant
                           forms, identify minor work renewals for input into the maintenance
                           renewals plan.

                      5. Carry out maintenance as per maintenance work order, and sign off
                           using signalling asset management system.
