SAFE SCHOOLS/HEALTHY STUDENTS

1. The 2010-11 SS/HS budget was discussed. All Core Management team
members will be notified when the budget is approved for year 3.
2. The Mentoring Grant was introduced to the Core Management team.
Progress of the implementation will be reported monthly to the CMT.
3. As a follow-up to the Summer Summit, it was reported that a Community
Resource Phone Guide will be developed this year to be distributed among
public agencies and partners. Communications’ directors will be working on
this throughout the year and be ready for publication in the spring 2011.
4. Discuss Action Team Agenda for November
a. Element 1-
$8,500 in Security Equipment. It was decided to purchase (3) three
Speco DV for Bourbon Central, Cane Ridge and BCMS ($2,319.51; (2) two
Accessgate Recorders @ $4,800; $1400 for additional dome cameras.
SRO guidelines and evaluation-Lana asked that a meeting be
scheduled with her, David Horseman, and Susan Harris to discuss the
SRO guidelines and evaluation. This will be completed during the month
of October 2010.
Lana asked that a meeting with Bobby McDowell, Bourbon County’s
Court Designated worker, Jim Ishmael, Susan Harris, and Lana Fryman
be initiated to discuss the procedures used when a student’s name/case
is sent to juvenile court. This will be completed during October 2010.
b. Element 2
All Stars Drug Prevention Program at BCMS is being implemented at
the middle school by trained staff in the 7th and 8th grades.
Reconnecting Youth Program at BCHS will be implemented starting
the 2nd semester at the high school. Elizabeth Atkins will be the SBMH
staff implementing the program. The mentoring grant also will be
assisting with this project.
BGA update: There are currently 10 students enrolled with 4 certified
teachers and 1 para.
c. Element 3
Second Step Violence Prevention program for elementary is being
implemented at each elementary school.
Al’s Pals Preschool Drug Prevention Program for Preschool is being
Incredible Years Parent Program for grades P-2 is targeted to begin
Guiding Good Choices Parent Program for grades 3-5 is targeted to
begin April 2011.
d. Element 4
Welcome Katie Gaffney to our schools. Katie is in the middle and high
schools and works for Comp Care
e. Element 5
Al’s Pals is being implemented by Andrea Snower.
Incredible Years Parent Program is on target to begin December 2010.
