IMPORTANT NOTICE – NATIONAL TOURISM DATABASE

To: All South African Tourism Product Owners and Service Providers


As you are aware, tourism has been identified by the government as one of the country’s top five
leading economic growth sectors and South Africa – as a preferred tourist destination of choice –
has continued to enjoy an increase in tourist arrivals despite a downturn in global travel.
In order to maintain this momentum, South African Tourism is launching a number of strategic
marketing campaigns in its key international markets. In order to support these campaigns and
to enhance the provision of the most comprehensive source of information to travelers, SA
Tourism is placing special emphasis on the Internet as its primary source of communication.
SA Tourism’s website, www.southafrica.net, has witnessed explosive growth and is now the
Number 1 rated website when searching for ‘South Africa’ on most of the Internet’s most popular
search engines including Google and Yahoo.
An integral part of this communication process is the implementation of its National Tourism
Database Project, upon which the details of all tourism product and service providers will be
included free of charge on www.southafrica.net in order that stakeholders can maximize their
exposure to the international and domestic traveler.
The tourism database is now live on the SA Tourism website and we are requesting that all
tourism service and product owners visit the website to check that their details are correct. In the
event that there are mistakes or omissions, please complete and submit the appropriate attached
form to our information desk at infodesk@southafrica.net or fax: 086 611 2417.

comprehensive and vibrantly current ‘one-stop’ travel and tourism information shop for South
Africa, further enhancing the reputation of South Africa as a world-class preferred tourist
