Having distinguished themselves as the top Hispanic entrepreneurs in the U.S., these business owners will be recognized not only for their achievements, but also for the role that they've played in bringing to light the success of millions of Hispanic business owners nationwide whose spirit is fueling America's economic engine. Past recipients of the Hispanic Entrepreneur Awards include Albero Vilar, Aida Levitan, Andy Unanue, Fernando Espuelas, Deborah Rosado-Shaw and Luis Capo. These entrepreneurs make up the more than 12 million Hispanic businesses that employ more than 1.3 million workers and generate nearly $190 billion in revenues – more than the individual gross products of many countries. Receiving the 2005 award are Richard a. Castro, a McDonald's owner/operator; David Perez, CEO of Hispanic marketing strategy firm Latin Force; and Ben Gutierrez, chairman and CEO of McMullen Tool Supply, one of the premier cutting tool suppliers in the greater Detroit area. Sponsored by Allianz Life Insurance, Prudential, ING and Hispanic Magazine, this year's Annual Hispanic Entrepreneur Awards recipients include Maria Welch and Roberto Allen, CEO and president of Baltimore-based Respira Medical, an independent provider of clinical respiratory care services and home medical equipment.
