IGT Taps modo for Flagship Slot Machines, Star Wars™ and Indiana Jones™
Speed and Flexibility Enable Game Developers to Create High-quality Content Faster San Mateo, Calif. — Feb. 27, 2007 — Luxology® LLC, an independent technology company developing next-generation 3D content creation software, today announced that modo™ was used by IGT to develop various components for two flagship slot machines, Star Wars™ The Empire Strikes Back™ and the Indiana Jones™ Multi-Level Progressive. Praised for its outstanding speed and flexibility, modo was used by IGT’s artists to model and texture various game characters and assets, CGI movie sequences, and Yoda, who is featured on top of the Star Wars™ The Empire Strikes Back™ slot machine. “The slot machine development cycle requires powerful tools that allow us to produce high-quality content quickly,” said Justin Valvo, senior artist at IGT. “modo’s powerful toolset, customizable interface and easy integration with the other software tools I use make it a vital component in my content creation process.” IGT used modo to model and texture the majority of assets for several slot machines, including lead characters Yoda, The Creature From The Black Lagoon™, and Tipsie, as well as other assets and background elements such as stars and coins. modo was also used to model and texture high-quality content for the plasma displays, which are short CGI movies that run on the slot machines. modo is an innovative 3D modeling, painting and rendering software designed to accelerate the creation of world-class models, associated color and normal maps, and ultra high-quality renderings. modo’s modern workflow and advanced toolset easily deliver enhanced productivity for 3D artists working in game development, film visual effects, video production, graphic arts and design visualization.
