VeSys® Design Electrical Wiring Design & Analysis VeSys Design provides a graphical environment for creating vehicle wiring diagrams. Full electrical design authoring is made easy via an intuitive user interface and electrically intelligent symbols. Many functions are provided that support designers’ daily activities. In addition, embedded simulation creates complete virtual prototypes of electrical systems, validating designs are correct first time. The unique combination of interactive design and electrical simulation reduces design cycle times and improves quality. Design D A T A S H E E T VeSys Design Highlights • Rapid circuit design with intuitive user interface • Many functions to assist engineers’ daily tasks • Intelligent symbols with built-in models for electrical simulation and analysis • Interactive simulation allows instant circuit behavior visualization • Whole vehicle electrical system virtual prototype capability • Design rule checks highlighting short circuits, volt drop, fusing and wire sizing errors • Integration with MCAD systems for 3D harness routing and wire length back-annotation Circuit Drawing VeSys Design software has a highly intuitive user interface for rapidly creating and editing circuit diagrams. For example, wires can be snapped directly into existing wires, and a splice is automatically formed. Components can also be inserted into wires, and on removal the wire automatically rejoins. Furthermore, all entities have context sensitive menus giving the user the modification options appropriate for each different type of component. These and many other facilities make circuit editing a simple and quick task. This gives the designer time to make full use of the simulation and analysis features available to check and optimize the system. VeSys Design includes VeSys Components for intelligent parts selection, complete with their electrical properties & behavior. www.mentor.com/vesys Electrical Simulation and Analysis With VeSys Design, simulation is carried out automatically as you work. By simply clicking a switch, the effects are immediately displayed on the diagram and any errors can be identified and corrected. This real-time simulation enables the following conditions to be analyzed: • System functionality display • Overloaded wires • Short circuits • Fuse blow currents & times • Volt drop problems • Signal flow • Sneak path detection Built-in Intelligent Symbols • Wires, lamps, motors, loads • Switches, relays • Fuses/fuse-links • In-line connectors and housings • User-defined components • Splices, terminals • Batteries • Page/wire breaks, ground points The system has options to simulate 12, 24 to 600 voltage systems, and takes into account the effects of temperature on the cables. • Diodes/LEDs, resistors • Electronic control units Other Facilities • Full data export, reporting and net list facilities in CSV, HTML etc • User defined properties for filtering and customizing exports • Behavioral modeling of electronic control units • Multiplexed bus support • Interactive selection of components from VeSys Components • Integrated with the other VeSys Electrical Series applications • Interfaces with a wide range of MCAD applications for 3D harness routing Capital® Harness Systems™ (CHS) CHS is an alternative electrical wiring system design - analyze - engineer - service software suite offered by Mentor Graphics. Whereas the file-based VeSys products are optimized for rapid deployment / low IT footprint, CHS is designed for large multi-site organizations. CHS is a data centric rather than drawing centric design environment, providing powerful: • • • • • • Design data management (example: design compatibility assurance). Software-controlled process constraints (example: release management). Design process automation (example: rules-driven wiring synthesis). Electrical configuration management (example: composite harness design). Safety, quality, reliability and cost analysis (example: circuit behavior analysis & reporting). Enterprise integration and extensibility (example: workflow integration via web services). Software Requirements: Windows NT4, 2000 or XP. AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT, Any of the following versions: 2000, 2000i, 2002, 2004, 2005 or 2006 (Purchased independently).
