Knowledge sharing with national partners, regional COs and sister UN agencies
KM Objective in UNDP Croatia:
During a ten-year period of its presence in Croatia, UNDP has accumulated a plethora of knowledge
and experience ranging from post-conflict recovery to an exigent transition process. The CO Croatia
has found its niche in working within several UNDP practice areas, especially democratic
governance, energy and environment and HIV/AIDS.
Many Croatian initiatives and experiences, which can be very useful for the countries in the region
that are going through the same transition process, have so far not been extensively shared with our
national partners, UN sister agencies and our UNDP counterparts. And it is these accumulated
experiences that reveal genuine strengths in Croatian development. Therefore, this CO has decided
to engage its KM efforts in collecting, organizing and sharing its development knowledge and
experience. The Office will primary realize this by writing ARNs, lessons learnt papers, primers,
and policy papers as well as by conducting necessary and practical research. These activities will
aim at advising UNDP national partners and other development practitioners in the region of the
best practices collected in the country.
In addition to its own staff, UNDP Croatia will mobilize best experts in the country to provide
concrete recommendations (based on sound and tangible research) to the government at all levels,
the business community and civil society at large.
CO Croatia will also organize relevant materials into a local reference library that will be made
available to UNDP staff and national counterparts. Knowledge accumulated throughout the years,
will also tried to be captured by introducing well prepared exit interviews for those staff who leave
and who have worked on key positions.

Staff are further encouraged to devise their own learning plans and share their experience through
various Knowledge Networks. The aim of staff development is their professionalization and
advanced learning of UNDP practices for the benefit of national partners and CO in the region.
Visits to regional COs are also planned for the purpose of knowledge sharing.
