JIMMY FONG OF EPICENTRE HOLDINGS LIMITED AND
ELDWIN CHUA OF PARADISE GROUP HOLDINGS
ARE THE OVERALL WINNERS OF
THE ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR 2011 ~ A ROTARY-ASME AWARD



The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore – Jimmy Fong of EpiCentre Holdings Limited and

Eldwin Chua of Paradise Group Holdings were crowned the Overall Winners, The

Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 ~ a Rotary-ASME Award, at the Award Presentation

Ceremony on Friday, 26 August 2011. Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister,

Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs was the Guest-of-

Honour at the event.




At 23 years, The Entrepreneur of the Year ~ A Rotary-ASME Award is Singapore’s oldest

Award for entrepreneurship. As an established and prestigious business accolade, the

Award serves to acknowledge outstanding local entrepreneurs who demonstrate

excellence and drive in their field of business, while making social contribution a significant

part of their business philosophy.



Four Sub-Category Awards – EYA for Enterprise, EYA for Info-Communications Technology,

EYA for Innovation, and EYA for Social Contribution – were also presented.
EYA for Enterprise went to David Low Chor Hoon of Futuristic Store Fixtures Pte Ltd, for his

exceptional entrepreneurial performance in establishing his business, including vision and

mission, business ethics, leadership, teamwork and training, communication, and business

structure.



EYA for Info-Communications Technology went to Jimmy Fong of EpiCentre Holdings

Limited      who   has   effectively   implemented   and   integrated   info-communications

technology within his organisation, leading to a significant increase in productivity and

cost efficiency.



EYA for Innovation went to Henn Tan of Trek2000 International Ltd for his high level of

engagement in information and process technologies to facilitate industry innovation,

research and development initiatives to create products and services that place

emphasis on value-add.



EYA for Social Contribution went to Fu Siang Jeen of Wen Ken Group for his efforts in

contributing to society, involvement in environmental policies and encouraging employee

involvement in community activities.



Mr Lawrence Leow, President of ASME, said, “Like a trailblazer, I am proud to share that our

15 Top Entrepreneurs have demonstrated a clear ability to manoeuvre through

challenging business conditions and be a leading light for others to follow.”
ASME and Rotary Club of Singapore are proud to be in partnership again, working

together to acknowledge the accomplishments of local entrepreneurs who epitomise the

true meaning of entrepreneurship.



In his speech, Mr Tapan Rao, President of Rotary Club of Singapore said, “It is heartening

to note that many agree that entrepreneurship does not only rest with the ability to

conceive different ways to generate profits ~ It is also about being a good corporate

citizen and caring for others.”



Guest-of-Honour, Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for

National Security and Minister for Home Affairs presented the Awards.



“One outstanding trait that is common to many of this year's award nominees is the

adoption of innovation into their businesses. They have all taken bold steps to invest in

productivity and innovation, upgrade business processes, and adopt globally competitive

strategies," said DPM Teo.



Showing its commitment to championing entrepreneurship in Singapore, OCBC Bank has

returned as the Main Sponsor of the Award for the 10th consecutive year.




Mr Linus Goh, Global Head of Enterprise Banking & Financial Institutions, OCBC Bank said,
"We at OCBC Bank are delighted to champion the success of so many deserving

entrepreneurs through this Award platform over the last 10 years. This year’s winners clearly

demonstrate an ability to differentiate through customer focus and innovation to succeed

The organisers are very encouraged by the quality of this year’s Top Entrepreneurs. We

hope to see more entrepreneurs of such calibre next year.
