Here’s a seat that will have you questioning the materials you are currently sitting on. Made using precise digital fabrication and rapidly renewable materials, the Relief Chair’s contoured design does more than simply add visual appeal to this design by Ben Mickus. Medium density wool felt, a completely natural product, is adhered using water-based adhesives to an internal stainless steel frame which extends down to the floor as the chair’s legs. The Relief Chair was a part of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum’s exhibition “Fashioning Felt” during fall of 2009. The felt replaces the usual upholstery foam that is a primary product of the furniture industry. Absent of any dyes, individual chairs may vary a bit in color and be a bit lighter or darker than what is pictured. :: Relief Chair, $3,998.00 :: by: Ben Minkus of Minkus Designs
