Johnny Torres 1st period 8-30-10 Emt The reason why I wont to be an Emt is cause I wont to help and save peoples life. Having someone’s life in my hand would be a tough job but I would be willing to do what ever it would take to help that person. I would have to see what’s the matter with the person and try to save and help them while transferring the to a near by hospital. Just the thought of this job want me to do my best in high school so that I could be able to do this job. What does Emt stand for? it stand for emergency medical technician they are the first to evaluate the nature and extent of a medical problem. They determine the number of people injures, types of injury present, degree of trauma, and any preexisting medical conditions the victim may have such as allergies, or diabetes which requires special medical attention. How old you have to be and what you have to have to become a Emt. Johnny Torres 1st period 8-30-10 You must be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school or a GED certificate and also have successfully complete an Ems training course approved by the Texas Department of State Health Service. Also pass a state written examination or the National Registry Exam. An Emt may become licensed by taking the State board exam but does not have to since it is a optional choice. Degrees and schools There are three levels of training and certification for paramedic, amt basic, emt intermediate, and emt paramedic. Training last as long as six months to several years depending on the level. While becoming a Emt and paramedic you spend time not only in class but at emergency rooms and spend time in the ambulance. Emt basic: the Emt basic covers . managing traumatic, repertory and cardiac emergencies. . assessing patients status and necessary care. Johnny Torres 1st period 8-30-10 . dealing with fractures, bleeding, airways obstruction, emergency childbirth and cardiac arrest. . using emergency equipment ( backboards, splint, suction, oxygen, stretchers and ets: Emt- Intermediate The emt intermediate covers: . use of advanced airways devices . administration of intravenous fluid and some medication . 30-350 hours of required training For the last course which is your emt paramedic certification you learn advanced skills and also anatomy and physiology. To get to practice as a emt and paramedic you must have pass up to 5 national notification exams or state certification. With certification: whith certification you would be able to serve as a first responder to a call. Also being able to work on an ambulance and any other rescue vehicle, working in a emergency clinic, Johnny Torres 1st period 8-30-10 or helping as a stand by crew helper at a public event such as football games, parades and etc: by helping perform CPR or transmit patients vital data while in route to a hospital. Training includes anatomy, physiology, trauma management, patient assessment.
