• I have chosen a
    gorilla because I
    wanted to learn more
    about where they live.
• Gorillas are shy,
    gentle and curious.
Description
• Some gorillas are black and
    some are brown.
• Adult males have gray fur on
    their backs.
• The gorillas that live in the
    rainforest have rust colored
    fur on their foreheads.
• Males up to 600 pounds and
can stand up to 6 feet tall.
• Females are smaller. They
    weigh up to 300 pounds.
Habitat
          • Gorillas live in parts of western
              and eastern Africa, near the
              equator.
          • Some live in the mountains
              and tropical rainforests.
          • The plants in the rainforests
              help them hide.
          • After they eat they will relax.
          • As the sun goes down they will
              build a nest of leaves.
Diet
• Gorillas do not need to
    travel far to find their
    food, because they live
    where their food is.
• Gorillas are herbivores.
• They eat fruits, bamboo
    shoots, leaves and roots.
Babies
• The baby gorilla weighs about
    4 to 5 pounds.
• When they are born they are
    tiny and helpless.
• They get milk from their
    mothers.
• Gorilla mothers teach their
babies what leaves are good to
    eat.
• Most gorillas become
    grownups between 8 and 11
    years old.
