Looking for a job? Professional employment counselors
• Our counselors have the latest info on the best ways to find work in today’s economy, and they’re
ready to share it all with you – free! No matter what kind of job you had or what kind of job you’re
looking for, we’ll give you solid advice and help you develop your own employability plan.
34 One-Stop Career Centers
• Visit one of our convenient locations throughout New Jersey to meet your counselor, use our
public computers to look for a job, or find out more about the other great programs and services
we offer job-seekers.
Personal attention
• We offer many programs and services especially for people who might need extra help finding
work. Be sure to tell your counselor if you fit into one of these groups: laid-off workers, ex-offend-
ers, youth, people with limited English skills, and people without a high school diploma. Many
offices also have vocational counselors for people with disabilities, and Veterans Reps for former
military personnel who are making the switch to civilian careers.
Need new skills? Skills assessment
• Your counselor can offer a skills assessment to determine your strengths. With this information,
you can find jobs that match your skills, or learn new skills to make it easier to get a job in today’s
market.
Free computer tutorials
• Refresh your math, English or basic computer skills with free computer tutorials. Ask your
counselor about the Workforce Learning Link programs, available at One-Stop Career Centers and
other convenient locations.
Financial help
• You may be able to get financial aid, tuition waivers, training grants so you can learn the skills
that will help you find a good job.
Training
• Apprenticeships and on-the-job training build skills while providing a paycheck. Talk with your
counselor about requirements for these opportunities.

• One-Stop Career Centers offer frequent workshops on how to write a good resume, give a strong
job search? interview, market yourself effectively, use labor market information in your job search, and find
training. If it has been awhile since you’ve looked for a job, get the latest information here.
Networking support groups
• Many One-Stop Career Centers have groups like Professional Service Groups and Job Clubs,
where job-seekers from all backgrounds hold regular meetings to help each other reach their
employment goals.

• Ask your counselor about ETPU. Offered at 10 community colleges throughout New Jersey,
