  Vol. 64 May 2, 2010 No. 18

The Preacher Man. . . . .Patrick Cannon Order of Worship
One time a man in Australia was
arrested and charged with stealing a sheep. But 453 Love Lifted Me v. 1,2
he vigorously protested that it was one of his
own that had been missing for many days. Worship Leader—Kyle Jones
When the case went to court, the judge didn’t Family News—James Hanley
know how to decide the matter. Finally he asked
that the sheep be brought into the courtroom. Welcome & Call to Worship
Then he ordered the plaintiff to step outside and
call the animal. The sheep made no response 391 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us v. 1
except to raise its head and look frightened. The
judge then instructed the defendant to go to the 409 Savior, Lead Me v. 1
courtyard and call the sheep. When the accused man began to make
his distinctive call, the sheep ran toward the door and that voice. It 410 He Leadeth Me v. 1
was obvious that he recognized the familiar voice of his master.
"His sheep knows him," said the judge. "Case dismissed!" 412 Jesus, Hold My Hand v. 1
In the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus explained how much
he cares for the sheep; when one sheep out of a 100 was lost he 323 The Way That He Loves Me
went and searched and searched until he found it. He brought the
sheep back and celebrated. Common sense would be to not leave Prayer—Don Lawrence
the 99 sheep for the one lost sheep but Jesus cares passionately
about even the one lost sheep. At one point in your life perhaps you 845 Gentle Shepherd
were lost yourself, and yet Jesus cared about you enough to come
after you, otherwise you wouldn’t be here this morning. Jesus cares 361 Nailed to the Cross v. 1,2
about you and me, and our lost friends, family members, and people
in the community who wander around aimlessly like sheep without 383 Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross v. 1
a shepherd. The bottom line is this—we all need the Good Communion Prayer—Brad Francis
Shepherd to lead us daily.
Jesus calls to us...I love you, follow me, let me lead you. 376 He Paid a Debt v. 1,2
While it may not always look like God cares for us because of the
circumstances we are in, let’s be reminded that we are the ones who Offering Prayer—Brad Francis
get ourselves in the mess. We have not been left behind, or forgot-
ten. Jesus continues to walk in front of us, leading us out to green 134 The Lord’s My Shepherd
