Dear Member, B2B Magazine rule change – Bulk Sales The ABC Council has ratified a change to the B2B Magazine Standard audit rules.
email: abcpost@abc.org.uk www.abc.org.uk<>
The latest rule book – 2007 Version 2 – incorporates this change and is available to download from the ABC website www.abc.org.uk The change, which is effective from audit periods commencing on or after January 2008, will require the reporting on the certificate of the number of bulk sales for each issue. This replaces the current requirement to analyse bulk sales as a percentage against each issue only if they exceed 10% of the total circulation of that issue. The change to rule B10.4 is identified by the shaded text in the extract below: 10.4 BULK SALES DEFINITION [extract] • If the bulk sales of any issue exceed 10% of the total net circulation of that issue, the publisher must report the percentage on the Return and this will be shown on the ABC Certificate. From audit periods commencing on or after 1 January 2008 the publisher must report the number of bulk sales for each issue and this will be shown on the ABC Certificate
If you would like the B2B Magazines Specialist Committee to review any current rule or consider any area where the rules may need development, please contact the Director of Magazines, Jan Pitt (jan.pitt@abc.org.uk). Yours sincerely
