“… building character, confidence and sportsmanship.”

Dear Parents & Players:

The Agawam Youth Football Association board members would like to officially
welcome you to the 2012 football season and our family!

We are a small but proud organization with a history of providing the children of
this community the opportunity to learn and play the game of football with the
highest values of sportsmanship and integrity.

We will give your children the tools necessary to be a good football player and
instill values that they can use throughout their life.

Our coaches dedicate a great deal of time and effort to teach the skills they will
need to play the game. The technique the coach utilizes may differ from team to
team but the goals remain the same…to build the finest players, with character,
confidence and sportsmanship.

This year we will be looking for dedicated parents to join our organization as
board members to continue the great tradition of Agawam Youth Football. Any
board member will be pleased to provide you with information.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Agawam Youth Football Association Board Members

                           TEAM RULES AND REGULATIONS
The orderly and efficient operation of the organization requires that each player maintain
discipline and proper personal standards of conduct at all times. This is necessary to protect the
health and safety of players and coaches.

To that end, the Organization sets forth its established rules, which, together with observing other
proper standards of conduct, players are required to follow. Failure to maintain these standards
of conduct shall be subject to disciplinary action, including dismissal from the organization.

 1. Respect Coaches, Referees, Board Members, parents and volunteers at all times.

 2. When Coaches are speaking, all attention must be on them.

 3. Players should plan to arrive ten (10) minutes early for practices and minimum of ½
hour before game time. The coach will let you know specific times.

 4. Being tardy for practices or games without prior notice should be avoided.

 5. Player must be prepared for practice to last for: PW 1-1.5, Jrs. 1.5-1.75, Srs. 1.5-2 hrs.

 6. Any horseplay during a practice or game jeopardizes others’ safety and will be
        disciplined.

 7. The use of profanity and vulgarity has no place in football.

 8. Player must display discipline and self-control at all times.

 9. Players will display support for fellow teammates at all times. Criticism of your
        teammates will not be tolerated.

 10. Fighting and arguing will not be tolerated and could result in immediate dismissal from
        the team.

 11. Parents are asked not to interfere with the coaches during a game. Any advice from
parents will be appreciated, provided that it is given before or after a game.

 12. Hustle, sportsmanship and 100% effort will be displayed at all times.

 13. Players who are punished at home or having problems in school can be suspended from
football. It is our philosophy to cooperate with parents and school officials. Family
comes first; school comes second; football is third at best. Balance and priorities in a
        child’s life are important.

         Player fee $150.00 At Registration

                                                                       Equipment day – 8/4/11
                                                                          Seniors – 8:00 am
                                                                          Juniors –10:00 am
                                                                          Peewee – 12:30 am

Fee Refund Policy –

First Year Players Only: In the first two weeks of practice, if you withdraw your child from the
program, the refundable portion of the player fee will be $50 when the entire uniform is returned
(if applicable).
After the first two weeks of practice are completed, there will be no refunds of player fees.

Returning Players: All Registration fees are non-fundable, unless a medical note from a physician
is obtained, within the first two weeks of practice.

There are no refunds of the cost of raffle tickets at any time.

Sibling Policy –

The first sibling in the family will pay the full $150.00. The fee for two siblings is $250.00. Any
additional sibling would be an additional $100.00.

Please Note: This policy applies only to members of the same immediate family – it DOES
             NOT apply to cousins.

We would like to share with you some of basic costs to support our team. The
following will clearly demonstrate why the player fee alone would not cover the
cost of fielding our teams.

Cost of Game & Practice Uniform including Bi-annual Reconditioning of Helmets –
$500.00 per player

In addition to these costs, we pay for other expenses such as referees, trainers, SAFL registration
fees, insurance and other non-uniform items. We have continued the effort to upgrade our
uniforms, equipment and fund other improvements to our infrastructure.

In the past few years we were proud to be able to improve our field with the addition of an
irrigation system on our practice fields and a second storage trailer. We have been able to also
provide our players with new state of the art helmets. Last year, numerous training items were
purchased along with new practice pants & shirts.

We greatly appreciate your contribution to our financial position.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions feel free to contact us.

Mandatory Parents Meeting – TBA
Prior to the start of the season, we require that at least one parent attend a mandatory meeting to
meet the coaches, board members and volunteers. This is also our opportunity to meet you and
explain details about our programs.

Preparation for Practice
In early August, before uniformed practices, players should dress in light gym shorts (not jean
shorts) and light colored tee shirts. After uniformed practices begin, the coaches will notify the
players if they should alter their dress due to the weather.

At all times, they should not eat a heavy meal before practices, avoid carbonated beverages, milk
products and drink plenty of water during the day. The players should bring a gallon of water
with them. They will be provided with plenty of water and rest breaks during practice. However,
players should notify their coaches immediately if they feel nauseous, dizzy or faint and help will
be provided to them.

We will confirm any dates noted in this publication.
