NEONATAL RESUSCITATION PROGRAM Wednesday, October 28, 2009 • 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. • Program will be held in Suite 315 of Doctors Building 2 Instructors: Stuart Shaker, M.D.; Katherine Schooley, MD; Nancy VanHoose, RN OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this program, the participant will: ⇒ Demonstrate knowledge of the pathogenesis and cause of low Apgar scores (asphyxia, drugs, hypovolemia, trauma, anomalies, infection); ⇒ Demonstrate skill in rapid and accurate evaluation of newborn physical condition inclusive of Apgar scoring; ⇒ Have knowledge of specific indications for resuscitation; ⇒ Demonstrate skill in the necessary techniques involved in resuscitation of the newborn, general aspects of airway management (laryngoscopy, endotracheal intubation, artificial ventilations, airway suctioning, evaluation of ineffective ventilations), cardiac massage, pharmacological resuscitation, maintenance of thermal stability, and treatment of meconium aspiration. CME CREDITS The Olathe Medical Center is accredited by the Kansas Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The Olathe Medical Center designates this education activity for a maximum of eight (8) AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM.
