JFK TERMINAL 4 WELCOMES AIRES S.A.
Colombian Airline Offers Travelers Direct,
Low Cost Flights from Bogota to NYC
NEW YORK, July 28, 2010: Aires S.A., the second largest air carrier in Colombia, has
selected John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 as its home for the carrier’s
expanded U.S. service offering direct, non-stop flights between Bogota, Colombia and
New York City. The terminal is one of the city’s busiest, serving more than 9 million
passengers annually. Aires made its U.S. debut last December with service to Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Aires began service from JFK Terminal 4 on June 26, with flights three times per week
on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to El Dorado International Airport on a Boeing
737-700 NG equipped with approximately 148 seats. Aires’ start up has been one of the
most successful ever at Terminal 4 with load factors reaching 75 percent in the first three
weeks. On August 2 the carrier intends to increase to daily service.
“South American carriers such as Aires continue to expand and open new routes," said
Janice Holden, chief commercial officer of JFKIAT, LLC, which operates Terminal 4.
"Aires' schedule -- arriving JFK at 1:00 a.m. and departing JFK at 3:00 a.m. is ideally
suited to Terminal 4, the only terminal at JFK with 24-hour Federal Inspection Services
as well as several all-night dining and shopping options. Passenger response to this
new service has been swift and robust. We welcome Aires to the New York market and
look forward to a successful and longtime partnership."
Fabio A. Andrade, Manager FLL of Aires Inc. added, "We are pleased to expand our
U.S. service to JFK’s Terminal 4 and to provide our passengers with more international
access. New York City is an important gateway and Terminal 4 offers the best home for
our passengers.”
