FRC Staff From the Executive Director
Brook Berg | Executive Director We’ve been in our new home now for one year; I can’t believe it! Our larger, more visible, more convenient location has been wonderful for
Lisa Hood | Administrative Assistant our agency and families. On average, 200 participants per month use our play room for Drop in and Play. Our play groups are full, and we
are serving families who may have never known we existed if it
Melissa Lokken | Parent Educator weren’t for our new home. With the loss of some grants in 2011, we aren’t open as many hours as we’d like—but we are confident that
Lita Prorok | MATCh Specialist will change with time. Happy anniversary to our new home, and
thank you to all who have supported us, and to those who have
made FRC a warm and inviting place for families!
Amanda Shilts | Parent Educator Also, we have some super exciting news! With the support of United
Way of Dunn County, we are expanding!! That’s right! Even though
our name says Family Resource Center for Eau Claire County—we
Board of Directors
will now be serving some families in Dunn County! With the closing
of the Dunn County FRC several years ago, there has been a
President Brook Steele | Sacred significant gap in services in the community. We are so excited to
Heart Hospital begin serving families in our Parents As Teachers program, and have
Vice President Jeff Sauter | GTP &
a staff member dedicating a few hours each week to families in Dunn
Associates County! We look forward to forming new relationships and
                                            strengthening families in Dunn County!
Secretary Cindy Peterson | Weld,
Riley, Prenn & Ricci, S.C. If you live in Dunn County and are interested in services, please call
                                            715-833-1735 and ask for Amanda.

                                          “ Family Focus”
When Tyra Hullet signed up for a class through the Family Resource Center, pregnant
with her first child, she had no idea the impact it would have on helping to raise her
children. She attended a couple’s workshop hoping to prepare her relationship for a
new baby. “We met so many wonderful people from the class that we still keep in
touch with. We have family get togethers and play dates with our children.” At the class, Tyra also learned
about the Parents As Teachers home visiting program and was quick to sign up. Four years later she continues
to enjoy the program and now receives personalized visits for both of her children. Tyra shared what she loves
about the program, “I like the fact that Parents As Teachers reaches out to our home setting and brings new
learning ideas to the children. We have learned a lot throughout the past four years and it has been a great as-
set to have. Home visiting reassures us we are doing a good job raising our children. If I have any questions, I
am always given educated answers and literature for the issues that come up.” When given the chance to tell
other new parents about the program, Tyra said, “I would tell them it is an awesome program! The staff are
friendly, helping and loving individuals, always there to help out or point you in the right direction to find the
resources you need. All around it’s a no lose situation…you can only win with FRC.”
Do you want to be your child’s first teacher and are interested in receiving monthly visits? Call the Family Resource Center to find out
more about the “Parents As Teachers” home visiting program.
