Strikeforce Challengers 20

Though it wasn’t the main event, the fight that caught our eye was the women's 145lb bout between Ronda Rousey
and Julia Budd. Rousey won a Olympic bronze medallist in judo at the 2008 Beijing games having been the youngest
judo player ever to compete in an Olympics in 2004 when she was just 17. Since bursting onto the women’s MMA
scene in March of this year Rousey has racked up 4 armbar victories in just under 2 and a half minutes. Her 3
amateur fights were also armbar victories, all done in under 2 minutes. The latest armbar drew some heat towards
MMA refereeing. Budd’s elbow was clearly dislocated during the submission and blame is being laid at referee Kim
Winslow’s door for not intervening early enough. In her post fight interview Rousey proceeded to call out both Sarah
Kaufman and Miesha Tate, the former and current Striekforce bantamweight champions. Both Kaufman and Tate
respond to tweets implying Rousey hasn’t done enough to earn a title shot let alone a contender eliminator fight just
