Use the Periodic Table in your Zoom
    In Zoom Out handout from
            yesterday.

Use a colored pencil to shade the following:
• Metals blue or Purple
• Non-Metals Yellow or Orange
• Metalloids Green
• Then draw a cloud shape         around the
  gases and a raindrop shape around the
  liquids leave the solids alone.

• With a highlighter, draw an arrow
  pointing up and down and label it
  Family.
• With a highlighter, draw an arrow
  pointing left and right and label it
  Period.

• With a red marker, outline the
  following element cubes:
 Carbon                        Oxygen
 Hydrogen                      Phosphorus
 Nitrogen                      Sulfur
        These are biochemical elements – They are needed
        for life to exist. (CHNOPS – pronounced like chin-
        ups)
        They are all on the right side of the periodic table
        (they are all non-metals)
        They form organic compounds (Carbon is in all
        organic compounds along with one of the others)

• USE YOUR COLORED PERIODIC TABLE TO
  ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:
• Name a liquid that is a metal.
• Is antimony (Sb) a metal, nonmetal, or metalloid?
• Name the Noble gas closest to Fluorine (F).
• Is Sulfur a metal, nonmetal, or metalloid?
• Name the gas that is closest to a metal in the
