1 # 1: The Sabbath is: The Rest Day The Blessed Day The Sanctified Day 2 • Genesis 2:1 - 3: • v.1: Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. v.2: And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. v.3: And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made. 3 4 Exodus 20:8 - 11 • v.8: Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. • v.9: Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work: • v.10: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger within thy gates: 5 • v.11: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. 6 7 Ezekiel 20:20 • And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. 8 • Exodus 31:12 - 18: • “And the Lord spake unto Moses saying, …” 9 10 Leviticus 23:32 (last part) • “… from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.” 11 Mark 1:32 • “And at even when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.” 12 13 Isaiah 58: 13 & 14 • “If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath …” 14 15 Luke 23:54 - 56 • “And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on.” 16 Exodus 16:19 - 30 • “And Moses said, let no man leave of it until the morning …” 17 18 Isaiah 66:22 • “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.” 19 Isaiah 66:23 • “And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.” 20 • The Sabbath was made for man (Mark 2:27) – for his enjoyment, for special fellowship and communion with God. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (v.28). The Sabbath, if observed the right way will bring us into full harmony with God – our Creator. You can claim the blessings the Sabbath promises!
