Scotiabank Takes Up Title Sponsorship of Grenada Sailing Festival Work Boat Regatta
Scotiabank is the new Title Sponsor for the 2012 Grenada Sailing Festival Work Boat Regatta,
which will now be called the Scotiabank Work Boat Regatta. The company has been a top level
supporter for the past three years and now moves into the central role for this high profile
national event, which will be held on the weekend of 4 & 5 February 2012 on Grand Anse Beach.
This important news was announced at a briefing held on Wednesday 23 November organised by
the Grenada Sailing Festival and attended by Mr Robert Frederick, Country Head - Grenada,
Scotiabank, who outlined the company’s commitment to increasing its support for this key
community event. The briefing was also attended by other premier Festival Sponsors,
representatives of the local community Work Boat Sailing Clubs and representatives of the Media.
There is further good news for the 2012 Grenada Sailing Festival and its Work Boat Regatta with
the confirmation of more new premier sponsors – Grenada Breweries Ltd joining with Carib as
the beer brand of the Scotiabank Work Boat Regatta, prestige prizes from Chivas Regal, plus
Grenada Broadcasting Network becoming the official Broadcast Sponsor and LIME taking up the
role as official Communications Sponsor. Mr Lincoln Baptiste, Marketing Manager, Grenada
Breweries; Ms Josephine Walters, Corporate Communications Manager, LIME, and Mr Joah
Thomas, Acting General Manager, GBN, also addressed the briefing with details of their
company’s support for the Festival.
Festival Chairman Mr James Bristol welcomed Scotiabank’s new role and the Festival’s other new
sponsors: “For nineteen consecutive years the Grenada Sailing Festival has been proud to run the
national Work Boat Regatta, which has become an extremely important event not only to the
island’s sailing communities, but to all Grenadians and overseas visitors too. This is a significant
part of the Grenada Sailing Festival’s remit to help support and develop sailing in Grenada and its
sister islands. With its strong commitment to youth development, sport and community, I know
that Scotiabank will be an excellent partner and Title Sponsor for the Scotiabank Work Boat
He went on to say “In the light of the current economic climate that we are experiencing, we are
particularly pleased that we have new companies making a commitment to support our event.
This reflects strong confidence in the Grenada Sailing Festival and we thank you”.
Details of the Grenada Sailing Festival Junior Dinghy Sailing Championship - another growing
element of the Festival – were also announced as GUT Co-Op Credit Union joins long term
sponsor Budget Marine to support this popular junior sailing event.
The Scotiabank Work Boat Regatta also welcomes several ‘Festival Friends’ joining as sponsors

The Grenada Sailing Festival Camper & Nicholsons Racing Series will run from Friday 27 January
to Tuesday 31 January, based at the company’s Port Louis Marina, and the Scotiabank Work Boat
Regatta will be staged on Saturday & Sunday 4 & 5 February on Grand Anse Beach. The Grenada
Sailing Festival Junior Dinghy Sailing Championship, sponsored by Budget Marine and the GUT
