4. Bull's Eye
Sybille Jensen is assigned to watch over journalist Thomas Wolff for the
weekend. Wolff, who on the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair announces
an exposé on illegal arms dealing, becomes the target of an assassination
attempt after a talk show, with the cameras still rolling. Wolff only survives Blank Meier Jensen
because of the detective's brave action, but Sybille Jensen is taken hostage
by one of the assassins and kidnapped. The second assassin is arrested, but
stubbornly remains silent about the possible whereabouts of the police
woman. When kidnapper Rudi Kowalski finally calls and wants to force the
release of his older brother Richie in exchange for Sybille, Blank demands
proof that Sybille is still alive. Rudi, who is controlled by his brother, sends a
Polaroid photo of her. Since all other attempts to find their colleague do not
materialise, Blank and Meier, in spite of great difficulties, manage to get
Richie released immediately, observing all possible safety precautions. He is TV Movie
to be shadowed in order to track Sybille down, but during an escape attempt
Richie dies in a car accident. 20 x 50'
Another look at the photo provides Blank and Meier with a clue that they have 1 Pilot 90'
so far overlooked and which helps them deduce their colleague's where-
abouts. During the following rescue operation Blank is compelled to kill Rudi 16 mm colour
who has got himself in a hopeless situation and actually provokes his death.
With Rudi, Blank loses an important witness against the instigator of the as-
sassination attempt, arms dealer Otto Baumgartner. He feels guilty.
