RooFS is student organization that helps in finding temporary housing. They
intermediate between international students and Dutch students who offer their
(furnished) room for a short period. More information can be found on the website, but you can also visit their office at Student centre Plexus
     (Kaiserstraat 25).
     Monday: 13.00 – 16.00 h Thursday: 17.00 - 20.00 h
     Tuesday: 17.00 – 20.00 h Friday: 13.00 – 16.00 h
     Wednesday: 17.00 – 20.00 h
 See also our website (‘finding housing yourself’)
 Check the announcement boards at the faculties, the cultural centre Lipsius, the
student centre Plexus, the University Library and in large student houses
 Look for housing in the area around Leiden: Leiderdorp, Voorschoten, Oegstgeest,
Den Haag (The Hague). The Hague is only 10 min by train from Leiden; rooms are
generally easier to find and cheaper than in Leiden.
Please bear in mind that you will face additional costs monthly for public transport.
 Contact your faculty for information about other students who have found/ are looking
     for a room.
 Try to find someone who is willing to share an apartment with you. This might make
it easier to find a place in the area around Leiden.
 Try to find out if the student societies in your hometown have connections with those
     in Leiden.
 Think also about other organizations (sports, music, culture etc) to find connections
     with your hometown/ university.
 Try to find a job via an (international) au-pair agency.
 Try to find housing via international network of people who temporarily offer their
room to other member of the network:
     - The Hospitality Club (worldwide) > Leiden, Leiderdorp, Oegstgeest, Voorschoten
     - (worldwide) > Leiden, Leiderdorp, Oegstgeest, Voorschoten
