Dear Xxxx,
The enclosed lesson is the last lesson in the course. There is a question on the quiz asking you to
give us your name exactly as you want it to appear on the certificate. Be sure to print you name
clearly.

[SAY SOMETHING POSITIVE TO REPLACE THE FOLLOWING OR EDIT IT TO MAKE
IT SOUND MORE LIKE YOU] Your answers on the quiz were well done.

(Question 1) Lost Loved Ones: [AKNOWLEDGE AND REFLECT THE STUDENT'S
ANSWER SO THEY KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN HEARD BY SAYING SOMETHING
ENCOURAGING THAT PROVES YOU READ WHAT HE WROTE BY EITHER QUOTING
PART OF IT OR PARAPHRASING PART OF IT, THEN EDIT OR REPLACE THE
FOLLOWING] Sometimes it is very difficult to effectively witness to close family members—;
they can see all of our "wrinkles" and "warts", and other flaws. The standards we set for
ourselves are seldom set as high as those which other people set for us. But, when we are in
"glory" with Christ; we shall be like Him (I John 3:1,2). My experience and the Bible both teach
me that persistent prayer is powerful prayer. I believe we should pray for all the lost, but I find I
pray more for the lost people I know and love – my family and friends. There are other things
that I do to try to lead them to the Lord from time to time, but I have learned that it is only the
ones the Lord shows me to do during my prayers that are effective. As with all good things, the
salvation of others must begin and end with prayer. The prophet Samuel said to his fellow
Israelites, God forbid that I should sin against Jehovah in ceasing to pray for you (I Sam. 12:23).

(2) Soldier, Athlete & Farmer: [LET STUDENT KNOW HE HAS BEEN HEARD] Being a
"soldier", or an "athlete", or a "farmer" is not easy. Many times we seem to be running an
obstacle course; but it is also very rewarding when we hear the Lord say, Well done, thou good
and faithful servant (Mat. 25:21). 2nd Tim 2:3-4 – A soldier must endure suffering and
discipline to win the war. Those in the ministry must be prepared to suffer difficulties. They
need to distance themselves somewhat from the regular things we all face so that they can have
their minds focused on God alone. 2nd Tim 2:5 – An athlete must submit to the Rules and Rigor
to win the game. Those in the ministry must expect to be scrupulously attentive to doing things
rightly because they will be held to a higher standard. 2nd Tim 2:6 – A farmer must know What
to plant, Where to plant and When to plant to reap a harvest. They should not be ashamed to
benefit directly from the work that they do.

(3) All the Same?: [LET STUDENT KNOW HE HAS BEEN HEARD] All "Scripture" is
(equally) given by inspiration of God (II Tim. 3:16). The Word of Truth must be rightly divided
(II Tim. 2:15)—: All is for us (Rom. 15:4), but all is not "to" us. Certainly we need to take the
entire Bible seriously, but I do think Paul did not mean for everything he wrote to be taken with
equal solemnity. Compare this verse in 2nd Timothy to 1st Corinthians 11:16 "But if one is
inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God," where he
says what he is saying is not worth arguing about. Compare 1st Thessalonians 4:8 So, "he who
rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you" where Paul claims

                                                                                                     1
to be speaking for God with 1st Corinthians 7:40 "But in my opinion she is happier if she
remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God," where he says he is just giving
his own opinion. As with anything, we must look carefully at the context in order to understand
the meaning and application of what is being said. (See also 2nd Tim 2:7.) Our activities should
be done in an orderly manner. Putting something at the top of our "Priority List" does not mean it
is the most important, but simply that it is to be first in the order of events.

(4) A Verse to Remember: Amen.

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness," and 2 Timothy 2:15 "Be diligent to
present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately
handling the word of truth," are my choices.

(5) 2nd Timothy Topic: [LET STUDENT KNOW HE HAS BEEN HEARD] Paul encourages
Timothy to be strong and faithful in carrying the Gospel message to others. He talks about how
to remain faithful to God in difficult times. Paul was giving the young preacher Timothy a
"charge" and "instruction" that are badly needed even today.
[a]. Charge and Instructions concerning the Gospel (2:1-26).
[b]. Charge and Instructions concerning the Apostasy (3:1-4:8).

(6) Life Application: [LET STUDENT KNOW HE HAS BEEN HEARD]
Paul is emphasizing that,
[a]. Our "Salvation" is of God (II Tim. 1:9).
[b]. Our "Studying" is to be for God's approval (II Tim. 2:15), and
[c]. Our "Service" is to proclaim the Word of God (II Tim. 3:14-4:4).

The enclosed lesson on Titus is the final lesson in this course. Like 1st and 2nd Timothy it is also
a letter from Paul to a young preacher.

Our prayer: [WRITE A PRAYER FOR THE STUDENT. INCLUDE HIS REQUESTS, IF HE
HAS ANY. EDIT OR REPLACE THE FOLLOWING.]

Male Version: O Sovereign God of all creation, we thank You that Your Son, our Savior, the
Lord Jesus Christ, said, "Allow the little children to come to Me." He showed us that You love
all people, young or old, black, white, red, and yellow, men and women, rich and poor. Though
You love all, we thank You for the precious consideration You give us because we know Jesus.
Thank You that we have the promise of Heaven, and that nothing can separate us from Your

love. It's not because we do good that we are forgiven and heaven is our home, but because Jesus
paid the price for our sins so we could be forgiven. Thank You for Jesus, dear Father. Lord, we
want to grow in You. Help us to want to read our Bibles, to want to pray, to want to attend
worship services, and to want to obey. Sometimes You give us so many blessings, whether it be
gifts or hobbies or sports or fun things, that we forget the One who blessed us. Give us a desire
to know You better. Almighty God, we are concerned about any lost friends and family
members that Xxxx may have. We also pray for those who risk their lives for others, such as
policemen, firemen, and those who serve in the military. Protect them, we pray. We remember
those who spend their lives reaching others for Jesus. We pray for the missionaries who have
gone out in Your name. We pray that You would continue to bless them with health and wisdom.
Continue to use them, we pray. We ask your continued protection on Xxxx. Please keep him
from every kind of harm and evil. Help Xxxx to work out all his problems and fill him with
wisdom. Help Xxxx to be kind and considerate and to try to understand how others feel. Help
him not to be concerned just about himself. Help Xxxx's family to get along well. Keep them
from strife, and when they can't agree, help them to be kind and honest. May others see Xxxx is
different because he knows Jesus. We pray in His Name, AMEN.
