PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

 Software for simulation of NC machining and verification with optimization
        Of NC program cutting speed.
 Guide: Prof. K.P. Karunakaran, Mech. Engg. Dept., IIT Bombay
 Description: Development of software to simulate CNC machining to detect collisions
and errors before the program is loaded on the machine. It can also optimize the NC
program cutting speeds for more efficient machining.
        (Duration: May 2006 – Nov 2006)

 On Finding characteristics of a Savonius rotor and Modifications to Improve
        Them
 Guide: Prof. S.V. Prabhu , Mech. Engg. Dept., IIT Bombay
       Description:
 Experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel on savonius rotor having
              two semi-circular blades.
 Experiments were conducted with varying surface roughness and effect
              on efficiency was studied.
 The bearing friction on the rotor was calculated was calculated using a
              D.C. motor.
 A helical rotor was designed in Autocad and was manufactured by rapid
prototyping machine to get constant torque.
              (Duration: Dec 2005 – Feb 2006)

 Fabrication and Calibration of Vane Vorticity meter
 Guide: Prof. S.V. Prabhu , Mech. Engg. Dept., IIT Bombay
         Description:
 Streamwise vorticity is an important fluid flow parameter. The
conventional method of measuring the vorticity fields is indirect and
often time consuming. The results are often inaccurate on account of its
              indirect nature.
 One of the direct streamwise vorticity measurement methods is the vane
              vorticity meter
              (Duration: Jan 2006-Mar 2006)
COURSE PROJECTS: -

Development of a User Interactive Package for Matrix Operations
in C++ using EZwindows package for graphics.
Guide: - Prof. Sharat Chandran,Computer Science and Engineering
Department, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

Description:- A package was developed for doing basic matrix
operations, written in C++ with animated intro rendered in EZwindows. The
coding was done in C++ on Linux platform (g++ compiler).

Testing and Analysis of forces acting on a dodecahedron under uniform
        loading.
Guide: - Prof. S.Suryanarayanan, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay

Description:- A hollow dodecahedron made of cardboard was tested under
progressively increasing loading till failure. Force analysis was done
        theoretically.

Fabrication of a passively powered vehicle which can follow a
straight path over a ramp terrain, in minimum time.
Guide:- Prof. S.Suryanarayanan, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay

Description:- A four wheel drive car with two coil-spring powered gear
boxes and aerodynamic design was made. The car was able to follow a
straight line path for 1m after running down a ramp of length 1m inclined
        at 45 deg.

EXTRA CURRICULARS

 Organizer (Media) in IIT Bombay's annual technological festival, TechFest (2005)
