Courses for the Minor in International Studies
Only upper division courses (200 level or higher) that focus on global issues and/or
countries outside the United States from 1815 to the present will count toward the Minor in
International Studies. The course list below indicates which of the four broad content areas each
course falls into. The content areas are:

       1. International Politics and History (generally, courses in Political Science and/or
          History)
       2. The Global Economy (generally, courses in Economics, Business, and/or
          Agricultural and Resource Economics)
       3. Global Society and Culture (generally, courses in Sociology and Anthropology)
       4. International Dimensions of the Arts and Humanities (generally, courses in Art,
          Art History, Literature, and/or Philosophy)

Courses listed in italics are not offered regularly. Courses marked with an asterisk might count
toward the minor, depending on the content. After reviewing the syllabus for such a course, the
International Studies Advisor will determine whether it will count.

Please note: this is a working list of courses. New courses may have been added that do not
appear on the list; some of the courses on the list may not be regularly taught. If you think you
have taken a course that could count toward the Minor in International Studies, you must review
the syllabus for the course with the International Studies Advisor, Ludmilla Burns (486-5888;
Ludmilla.Burns@uconn.edu), who will decide whether it will count. With the approval of the
International Studies Advisor, 3 credits of independent study and a 3-credit internship may be
counted toward the minor in International Studies. Foreign Study and Special Topics courses that
meet the criteria for International Studies courses may also be counted toward the minor.
