The Excitement is Building
Fellow Rotarians of District 6900,
Can you believe the Rotary year is more than half over already?! April and I have truly enjoyed our visits with the many wonderful clubs in our district and everywhere we’ve gone, people are excited about returning “home” to Jekyll Island for this year’s District 6900 Conference. Every day brings more registrations from our simple on-line registration site. It’s truly “one stop shopping” where you can register for the conference and all associated activities. There are a couple of items where we need your help: 1. Be sure to complete your club’s House of Friendship reservation form and return it to Lauri Young by the due date on the form; 2. If you haven’t sent in your club’s $100 contribution to this year’s door prize fund, please do so ASAP! Mail your check to district treasurer Cheryl Greenway.

GRSP STUDENT REGISTRATION
One of the highlights of every district conference is the chance for the GRSP students to spend some extended time together once more before they all head home to their own corners of the world. And it’s an opportunity for the host club and student to reminisce about the good times they’ve shared over the past year. But the student MUST be registered by their host club. Once again this year, we’ve made it easy for clubs to register their students. The online registration form has a space for you to check to register your student. One fee covers the student registration AND housing. Simply fill in the name of your student, address, club, etc. and click on the GRSP box. That’s it! Students will all be staying together at the Quality Inn. Rooms will be assigned as registrations are received. If you have questions regarding GRSP registrations, you may contact Lynn Clarke, Conference GRSP Coordinator, at lclarkeattorney@yahoo.com.

RON CLARK TO HIGHLIGHT SUNDAY MORNING
Are you ready to laugh? Are you ready to cry? Are you ready to be fired up by the passion of one individual with a dream? Then you won’t want to miss Sunday morning’s keynote speaker, Georgia’s own Ron Clark, founder of the Ron Clark Academy (RCA). Dedicated to fostering an environment that inspires academic excellence, leadership, collaboration and a world-class education for their students, the Academy has become not only a place where the students shine but where other teachers can come and learn about the Academy’s proven methods. Their Great American Teachers’ Club shares the successes of the RCA with teachers across the US, enabling students everywhere to develop the love of learning so prevalent at the Academy. This is an inspiring story told by a remarkable man mananmwho “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
who has been called “America’s Educator,” named Disney’s Teacher of the Year in 2000 and Oprah Winfrey’s first “Phenomenal Man.” It’s a story and a speaker you’ll never forget…Sunday morning, April 26.
“WHY I ATTEND THE DISTRICT CONFERENCE”
“We attend for the great fellowship, the time at the beach and to get caught up on what is going on throughout the district.”…Mike Hart, RC of Alpharetta The District 6900 Conference is a highly anticipated event for many Rotarians in our district. We asked some of our members why they attend and here’s what they said… • “I attend the District Conference to see what's going on and to be a part of a very special gathering of my Rotary family. I love the excitement and the new people I meet and the things I learn about Rotary each year.”…PDG Claudia Mertl, RC of Clayton County • “The district conference is first and foremost a way to experience Rotary fellowship. It's also a good way to gauge where our own club is and where we can go.”…PE William Perkins, RC of Alpharetta A great way to "SEE" what others are doing. I get ideas for service projects in my community.”…Fran Farias, RC of Sandy Springs “…I am most excited about the really awesome activities demonstrated in • the House of Friendship.”…Carolyn Marlow, RC of Muscogee “My favorite conference memory cannot be published.”…PDG Bill Woulfin, RC of Dunwoody
