OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE • The electric motor works primarily in city driving, while the diesel engine runs on highways (constant speed). • The Hino Hybrid is eight seconds quicker from 0-70km/h than a comparable diesel truck (3t payload). • A further fuel-saving features include regenerative braking, saving wear on the four-wheel disc brakes TEST RESULTS • MEASUREMENT METRICS – Fuel consumption against control group – Cost of electrical maintenance. – Cost of non-electrical maintenance. – Cost of brake maintenance. – Instances/impact of operational benefits. TEST RESULTS (6,870kms) • TRIAL - 3 MONTHS:COMPARISON - CONTROLLED GROUP – Fuel consumption currently 25% less per km than the controlled Group (13.50 l/100km). – No scheduled maintenance has been required. – One vehicle: Rectify a minor fault with the Hill Start Assist system.
