                      Countdown is on for the
                   IAAF World Race Walking Cup
                         Saransk, Russia
The 25th IAAF World Race Walking Cup will be held in Saransk, Russia this weekend.

The Australian team arrived in Saransk on Monday after an epic 40 hour trip and have
settled in to training and preparation for the meet. The team is staying at the Saransk

Timetable showing local Saransk time:

                  5pm 0km Walk Junior Women
                  6pm 20km Walk Men
May 14th Sunday 8.30am 50km Walk Men
                1:20pm 20km Walk Women

With Saransk 6 hours behind Brisbane all the Saturday races will be on late in the
evening our time but the Sunday races are on in the afternoon and early evening.

 Entries for the Queensland Championship Events close at 12:00pm on Friday 18 May
(late entries attract an additional fee). Athletes must be currently registered with
Queensland Athletics.
The invitation events are open to all walkers - club membership is not required. Entries
are taken on the day and close 15 minutes before the start of each event.

               CANBERRA FEDERATION MEET 2012
                    46th Annual Lake Burley Griffin Carnival
The Racewalking Australia LBG Federation Carnival will be held in Canberra on Sunday
June 10th.
REMINDER: Entry forms are now available at all club road walk meets. Your
completed form and entry fees must be handed to the club Secretary, Noela
McKinven as soon as possible.
This annual carnival is held each year over the Queens Birthday Long Weekend in June in
Canberra. It is Australia's largest walking carnival with over 300 walkers competing in a
variety of events. RWA Championships are held from U10 through to Masters.
            Age for these Championships is determined as ‘Age on the Day’.

Entry Fees: Racewalking Australia & ACT Walkers events $25.00 with a maximum of
$40.00 per person.

Athletics ACT Championships $12.00.

Fitness Walks – Adult $10.00, Under 18 $5.00, Family $20.00.

Uniforms: Racewalking Australia event competitors MUST wear their Racewalking
Queensland uniform. Please see Noela ASAP if you do not have a club singlet.

Masters: Commencement age for both Men & Women is now 35+ for all Racewalking
Australia Events.

Presentations: Commence at 7.15pm. Burns Club, Kett Street, Kambah Meals: Will be
available at the presentation venue from 5.30pm. You are encouraged to order early. Full
club facilities are available.

                          Mother's Day Classic
With no club competition scheduled for Mother’s Day Sunday May 13th if anyone
looking for a run or walk there is the Mother’s Day Classic starting and finishing at the
Cultural Forecourt at South Bank. The event is to raise funds for breast cancer research. If
you think you might look good on pink, want to register or want more information visit

                          Mater Little Miracles
The Mater Little Miracles 5km will be held at Southbank on Sunday June 3rd starting at
8.00am. This is a family friendly morning with entertainment and a 5km walk through the
Southbank Parklands and entertainment for kids including Dora the Explorer!

The Mater cares for thousands of premature and seriously ill babies and children from
across Queensland. They run various events throughout the year to raise money for this
cause and to help more children get home sooner and smile again.
Pre-registration: $15 per person, $25 per family (max 5). $10 per additional family
Team entry: $10 per person

The popular Pan Pacific Masters Games will be held this year on the Gold Coast from the
3rd to the 11th of November.
Race walking events will be 3,000 & 5,000 metre track races and a 10km road walk.
There is also a Power Walk 5km planned. For more information check out the Games
