March 2012– May 2012 Cash4Phones, London
Cash4Phones is a mobile phone recycler with partners operating across Europe and Asia. Customers
interact with the company solely online via

.NET Developer
Worked as a contract .NET developer based in the North London office. Was the only developer in the
company at the time. Responsible for:

 Updating the existing Cash4Phones site, which included a comprehensive back office system which
drove the business. Deployed updates to the live site and its database with zero downtime
    (ASP.NET, C#, .NET 3.5, SQL Server 2008, IIS 7).
 Deployed four brand new sites, which were part of an expansion strategy for the business. Worked
closely with the IT infrastructure staff getting new servers and domains efficiently set up.
 Worked on bug fixes identified by users throughout the deployment process.
 Worked closely with the Managing Director to meet the goal of getting the five sites live, and
communicating with each other across separate servers and databases. This was achieved using a
combination of Windows Services and SOAP Web Services.
 Served as point of contact for outsourced team in India, usually requiring effort outside normal
    business hours.

 Successfully launched five integrated online applications without causing downtime to the
   Cash4Phones website.
 Developed updated functionality as required to all five systems, as well as ensuring automatic
synchronisation between numerous databases on different servers. This allowed all five sites to be
centrally managed from the Cash4Phones back office system.

July 2008 – November 2011 Primatec QDA, Australia
Primatec QDA is one of the leading providers of automation control and custom software development
in the Hunter Valley region of Australia, supplying solutions to a diverse range of businesses from coal
mines to small offices.

.NET Developer
Worked as a .NET developer on a variety of assignments, creating bespoke applications for clients of
Primatec QDA. Worked both as a sole developer and as part of development teams. Examples of some
of the projects I worked on include:

    1. Point of Sale.NET – Inspirations Paint & Colour
 Worked in unison with a senior developer, creating a .NET based point of sale system to
replace an existing Java based system that was being used in over 100 linked retail stores across
 Developed major sections of the presentation layer for the back office part of the system (C#,
       ASP.NET, Javascript, CSS, Infragistics).
     SQL Server 2008 programming.
 Worked in a methodology developed by my senior partner which was loosely based on Scrum
principles, working in weekly increments. This tied in with daily stand up meetings each
morning as part of a larger team.

    2. Partnercorp Financial Suite - Partnercorp
 Main point of contact for this financial services client, developing legacy system enhancements
upon requests, as well as developing new systems.
 Responsible for deploying updates for the organisation’s primary web application outside
business hours. This system was an internal ASP.NET 2.0 web application, running a SQL
       Server 2008 backend.
 Designed and implemented a new Windows client application, which remotely connected to the
business’s database via web services. This system used pre-defined Word document templates
in a checkbox style tree format, allowing the user to create financial statements for customers
which were catered for that customer. Selection of sections was automated by running scripts
against the customer’s data when their file was opened.

Services, ADO.NET, Javascript, CSS, Infragistics, HTML / XHTML, TFS, IIS 6, SQL Server 2005,
SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO)

    3. Enterprise Messaging System - MidCoast Water
 Was the primary developer for an ASP.NET application that communicates via API with a
SCADA / PLC system for a water treatment plant (C#, ASP.NET, .NET 2.0, SQL Server 2008).
Any high category SCADA alarms are logged within the system, which are then picked up by a
polling Windows Service, which in turn sends SMS messages to a rostered manager.
 Developed the whole presentation layer using Infragistics controls, and the majority of the data
 Designed and developed SQL Server 2008 database used by the application.
 SQL Server 2008 stored procedure programming.

Technologies: C#, ASP.NET, .NET 2.0, SQL Server 2008, XHTML / HTML, CSS, JavaScript,
Infragistics Control Suite, Windows Services, IIS 7, SVN, Redmine, Confluence, Infragistics

 The WinForms application developed for Partnercorp completely removed the need for a member
of admin staff to manually compile Word documents that would routinely be hundreds of pages in
 For Partnercorp, being the main point of contact for this client for three years, dealing with the
Director and office staff regularly. This allowed me to build a level of trust and establish a sound
   working relationship with the client.
 The Enterprise Messaging System created valuable feedback to managers of the water utility
company in which it was implemented, which was essential considering the safety implications of
SCADA system failures. This system also allowed the IT infrastructure staff to configure PLC
alarms and SQL Server settings themselves rather than contracting support developers, which
quickly provided the client with substantial financial benefit.

Until their dissolution in 2009, Technology Partners Group was a leading provider of custom software
solutions in Newcastle, Australia to the education and finance industries.

Junior .NET Developer
My part-time role as a .NET developer involved custom development primarily using C# and ASP.NET
within a development team of ten. I worked on a number of projects there which included:

    1. BMed Application System – University of Newcastle
 The University of Newcastle’s application process for Bachelor of Medicine was automated for the
first time using this web application system developed in .NET 2.0 using ASP.NET in C#.
 Worked within a team of 10, primarily on the presentation layer using XHTML and manual
    software testing.

Technologies: Visual Studio 2005, C#, ASP.NET, .NET 2.0, SVN, SQL Server 2005, CSS, Javascript

    2. A-Trak – University of Newcastle
 Developed a whitelabel web-enabled Program Tracking System assisting the University of
Newcastle to manage its program offerings to both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students,
created in ASP.NET in C# with SQL Server backend.
 Created SQL stored procedures for simple CRUD statements.
 Created test case documents for manual testing.
 Worked on front end development and bug fixes throughout the life of the project.

Technologies: Visual Studio 2005, C#, WCF, ASP.NET, NET 2.0, SVN, SQL Server 2005, CSS

 The BMed Application System replaced a tedious manual process that greatly cut down on staff
operations and time. This was integrated seamlessly with the University’s existing website.
