                                  First PERL Think Tank Meeting
                       Responsible Living: Critical and Creative Perspectives

        24 – 25 January 2011 - Consumers International, Highbury Crescent 24, London
 A dialogue between experts from civil society, business, researchers, educators and policy-makers
      and the PERL Steering Group, Work Group leaders, and the PERL Think Tank Committee

The questions for discussion during the meeting are:
    1. What does responsible living mean for the stakeholders you represent?
    2. What common values do you feel lead to responsible behaviour?
    3. How can the gap between understanding and action for responsible living be overcome?
    4. What is the role of different actors (governments, business, educators, NGOs, religious
       groups, families etc.) in removing obstacles and in stimulating responsible behaviour?
    5. What are the challenges and ways forward for educational efforts to promote participation
       and learning as part of social change for responsible living?


                                        PROGRAMME
Monday, 24 January
        9.00 – 10.00     Preparatory meeting between the guests, PERL Think Tank Committee and
                         the Think Tank facilitators (Introduction to PERL and goals of Think Tank)

10.00 – 11.15            Think Tank: First Session
                         Welcome & introductions
                         Guests will give a short presentation each (15 min)

11.15 – 12.00            Discussion amongst the experts on the Think Tank focus questions

12.00 – 13.00            Lunch

13.00 – 15.00            Think Tank: Second Session
                         Interactive exchange between the guests and PERL partners about:
                         -definitions of responsible living
                         -common values leading to responsible living
                         -overcoming the gap between understanding and action for responsible living

15.00 – 15.30            Coffee break

15.30 – 18.00            Think Tank: Third Session
                         Interactive exchange between the guests and PERL partners continues about:
                         -the role of different actors in removing obstacles and in stimulating
                         responsible behaviour
                         -the challenges and ways forward for educational efforts to promote
                         participation and learning as part of social change for responsible living

19.00                    Dinner
Tuesday, 25 January

9.00 – 12.00                Think Tank: Fourth Session
                            Interactive exchange between the experts and PERL partners continues.
                            Participants will be divided into groups depending on the field of their
                            interest.

12.00 – 13.30               Conclusions and final remarks

14.00                       Departure of participants
