                                                                           The Master of Music Therapy degree advances
                                                                    students from competencies achieved in undergraduate
                                                                    studies to competencies which are in depth, analytic,
                                                                    interdisciplinary, and global. The program prepares students
                                                                    as clinicians, scholars, and leaders in the profession of Music
                                                                    Therapy. Graduate education provides the opportunity to
                                                                    acquire an advanced theoretical, research and practical base
                                                                    for meeting the changing needs nationally and
                                                                    internationally, of the people served by music therapists.

  Timeline:

  1. Complete columns 1,2,3, 4, and 5 on the templates below (outcomes, specific courses that support these outcomes and means of
     assessment for each course specific outcome) and submitted them via email to your college coordinator, Martha Colvin, and to
     the Coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness for Academic Affairs, Deborah Vess, by November 15, 2009.
  2. By September 30, 2010, complete columns 6 and 7 on the templates below (meet with faculty, discuss and analyze the results
     for fall, spring, and summer (where applicable) terms, and agree on changes to be made as a result of the assessment) and
     submit them via email to Martha Colvin and Deborah Vess, by September 30, 2010.




  Directions:

  1.Assess four program goals.

  2.Complete the required fields below for each program goal using at least two courses. Please use a combination of core nursing courses
  and other graduate courses.


  3. For each program goal selected, define course-specific outcomes that support achievement of the overall goal.
   4. Each course-specific outcome needs to have its own specific measure. Measures could include specific assignments, projects, or
      other materials. Programs should make use of both direct and indirect measures where possible. See the APR resource manual for
      further information on direct and indirect measures. Where possible use multiple means of assessment.

   5. Define a desired standard of achievement for each course-specific outcome.

   6. Overall course grade distributions are not acceptable data for results, but performance results on standardized exams or particular
      assignments that address the specific outcomes are good examples of data that will lead to meaningful evaluation.

   7. If your program assessment for the previous year included modifications in response to assessment (column 7), please follow-up on
      those this year and include relevant goals, outcomes, means of assessment, and track the results of the modifications.
