Commission of national experts and national experts in professional training.

2. Main areas of responsibility :
To participate in the conception, design and execution of interdisciplinary research
projects within the Systems Toxicology Unit of the Health and Consumer Protection
Institute in the area of biophysical modelling. The focus will be on the development of
integrated models from molecular level (Systems biology) to entire organisms
(Physiological based Pharmacodynamic models, PBPK) with emphasis on performing
in vitro in vivo extrapolation though this integrated modelling approach in support of
the Cosmetics Directive. Development of integrated testing strategies (ITS) combining
in vitro with in silico approaches for repeated dose toxicity assessment is also
foreseen. Other responsibilities will also include the preparation of scientific reports
and publications, and the organization of scientific events and/or workshops. The
candidate should also be prepared to provide expert advice relevant to supporting EU
policy development and implementation in the fields described above.
3. Main qualifications :
Degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or
similar background. Candidates should have an established scientific profile in
mathematical modelling and the ability to understand biophysical processes.
Knowledge in toxicology is an advantage. Candidates should be able to work
independently and have proven organisational and supervision skills, a positive spirit,
a desire for teamwork, and be willing to provide on-the-job training to colleagues.
Candidates should be suitably experienced in organisational management and strategic
planning. Familiarity with working in an international environment would be helpful.

4. Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English, written and spoken, is required and in addition the
