                 APPLICATION AND ADVANCES IN NON
                    DESTRUCTIVE WELD TESTING
The increased use of stronger materials, the use of a variety of materials, coupled with the demands for higher productivity,
have made good welding practice critical. Additionally, the introduction of more stringent Code requirements and the difficulty in
maintaining a certified welding staff have further compounded the need for a complete non destructive testing (NDT) program. This
seminar will provide guidance on the requirements for welding inspectors, and NDT technicians and appropriate testing methods. The
probability of detection (POD) of the latest NDT methods, the appropriate application and limitations of VT, MT, UT and PT shall be
addressed including tips on production improvement. The second part of the seminar will focus on advances in Ultrasonic Testing
Methods. New technology allows for performing a more thorough inspection at faster levels with recording capabilities. Mr Mandina
has employed this technology in the US, South America and Europe with a high level of success. Lessons learned and project
experiences will be presented. The ultimate goal is to present methods to improve Quality Control without hampering productivity. The
seminar information is applicable to steel fabrication in the building, offshore, ship-building, civil works, and bridge construction fields.
The seminar shall be presented by Mr. David Mandina. David has over Thirty years of International experience in the Bridge,
Oilfield, Petrochemical and Ship Building Industry and is a global leader in the inspection field. He has developed a state-of-the art
online training program specifically designed to effectively and efficiently train inspection personnel anywhere in the world. The
programs range from the basics such as Eyes and Light through Advanced Ultrasonic Phased Array Training and can be modified to
meet the needs of a singular inspector or an entire NDE Department. His specialties include welding, NDT training, consulting,
supervising and auditing. He has earned certifications from the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), as a Level III in
Radiography (R/T), Ultrasonic (U/T), Magnetic Particle (M/T), Liquid Penetrant (P/T) and Visual Inspection (V/T). He is also an AWS
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE), American Petroleum Institute (API) 510, 570 and 653 Inspector
as well as a certified Quality Auditor for ASQ.
