These sample questions are intended for use during an employee annual review, and may provide you with valuable information about your employees regarding their employment capabilities, aspirations regarding career progression, satisfaction with their position, salary and organizational fit, as well as the organization itself. Determining Patterns of Success – Determine methods for ensuring appropriate organizational fit and employee direction. What was your favorite task/role/project in the past 12 months and why? What made it so special? What made it successful? What did you do to make it work so well? What have you done to deliver more value to this company than you did 3-6 months ago?
Judgment and Analysis – Identify areas of success, and potential areas of concern. What was your biggest mistake/regret of the past 12 months and what did you learn from it? How well do you effectively analyze and solve problems? Do you clearly use sound judgment to do so? Are you decisive? Do you act on decisions in a timely manner? Do you successfully overcome obstacles?
Leadership and Initiative – Determine levels of employee leadership and initiative that may assist you in the development of career progression plans. Do you actively seek out and assume additional responsibilities, without being asked to do so? Do you demonstrate an ability to lead and/or encourage and/or inspire others? Do you recognize and act upon new opportunities? Do you provide a positive role model for peers and/or subordinates? Do you provide constructive guidance and feedback to others?
