2012 Study Group Team Member Attendance Policy
The success of each Chicago Foundation for Education (CFE) Study Group is dependent
upon the attendance and participation of each Study Group Team Member. Meeting
schedules are developed by Coaches, along with Team Member input. Please remember
that your $300 grant is conditional on full participation in at least twelve hours of Study
Group Team Meetings.
Given the limited number of Study Group hours, grant guidelines, and the amount of work
undertaken by your Coaches as they prepare for meetings, CFE takes this Attendance
Policy very seriously. However, we do understand that emergencies occasionally arise.
Thus, Team Members have the ability to apply for an excused absence. If your absence
is approved by both your Study Group Coach and CFE, you will have the opportunity to
complete a “make-up assignment” and still receive your full grant.
Please note that CFE will make all final decisions regarding the approval of Team
Members absences and the acceptance of make-up assignments. CFE reserves the
right to terminate grants based upon unexcused absences, among other guidelines
set forth in the Study Group Team Member Grant Contract.
In the Event of Unavoidable Emergency:
1. Contact your Study Group Coach prior to the meeting, or within 24 hours of missing
2. Work with your Coach to determine an appropriate Make-up Assignment and
complete CFE’s Absentee Form.
3. Submit the form to your Coach for approval.
4. CFE will send you an email indicating whether your absence is conditionally
5. Final approval may be based on completion of Make-up Assignment.
If your absence is unapproved, any and all grant monies must be returned to CFE no later
than November 30, 2012. If funds are not returned by such time, the grant may be
reported to the IRS as income. Please also note that unexcused absences will result in
CFE grant ineligibility for at least two future academic years.
