NEW CURVED METAL CEILING SYSTEM FROM ARMSTRONG
FEATURES LARGE-SCALE PANELS AND NO VISIBLE GRID
New Serpentina Waves 3-Dimensional Accent Clouds impart
custom look even though created with standard components
CHICAGO, June 9, 2008 -- Armstrong has expanded its line of
Serpentina 3-Dimensional Ceiling Systems with the addition of Serpentina
Waves, a new curved, pre-engineered metal ceiling system that features
large-scale panels and no visible grid.
An ideal way to accent an area, especially in exposed structure or open
plenum spaces, the new ceiling system creates the appearance of a floating
cloud with a “wave” or “ripple” profile, and imparts a clean, sleek, custom look
even though it is created with standard ready-to-assemble components.
The system consists of a standard Serpentina suspension system with a
specially designed sleeve that fits over the grid. Flexible metal infill panels then
slide into the sleeve, eliminating the visual of main runners and cross tees, and
creating a thin, ¼” black reveal between panels to provide a more monolithic
Wide Range of Color and Perforation Options
Serpentina Waves panels are 2’ wide and 4’ to 12’ long and offered in 13
standard colors and eight perforation patterns. Custom colors are also available,
as are unperforated panels. The use of an optional poly-bagged fiberglass or
laminated fleece backing enhances the acoustical performance of the
To provide even more design flexibility, Armstrong offers ten curved
options as part of the Waves system, ranging from 7.5 to 90 arcs, making
it ideal for use in a wide variety of applications, including office, education,
healthcare, transportation, retail, and hospitality.
All components are pre-engineered for fit and finish to help ensure
consistent visual quality. They also allow faster and easier installation since
the system requires no field modification, only assembly (unless designed as
a custom application).
Serpentina Waves also features the StrongBack™ installation system that
uses fewer hanger wires and recesses them to impart more of a “floating” look to
